Not arguing for or against his statements, but if there have been alien encounters through our history, as some state, then you can all but guarantee that the Vatican is aware and is part of the cover-up. They've been a global power for what 1000 years now? And they were easily the Christian world's historian for most of that time. And given that people's belief in aliens would detract from the message of Christianity which is their source of power and wealth, it would be a no-brainer that they would cover up such evidence.
They're here, I have seen them. My Dad was a long distance trucker for many many yrs, he told my mom many yrs ago that he saw one, never told anyone but her. I also have friends that have seen them.
No doubt many kooks out there that will be ridiculed for what they say but there are thousands upon thousands of credible people that have seen them. First thing they do to shut you down is call you crazy.

I don't think anyone would object to this statement. Well, some fundamentalist religious types might (i.e. @AC2020), but let's exclude them for discussion purposes.
The real questions though are whether or not an intelligent extraterrestrial society has contacted us and does our government know this for a fact. And also, if they have, why is our government covering it up.

Use and get used. They are a political entity. And they do what they believe is best for themselves. And clearly they are good at it. They've been in business since basically the Dark Ages.

I agree with you that if there is some international conspiracy to cover-up alien encounters or even official alien contact, some individuals at the Vatican would most likely be aware of it. But it wouldn't be limited to just the Vatican. The Vatican doesn't represent all Christians, in the world or in this country. Other Christian governing bodies would also be aware. As would other powerful political religious governing bodies.
I disagree with you though that the message of Christianity would automatically be harmed if it became known that there are aliens and they have contacted us. A certain "version" of Christianity could definitely be harmed, but that doesn't mean the actual real message of Christianity would be harmed. What if, for example, the alien society that contacts us informs us that they believe in a God and that there was someone who came to them long ago preaching a message of love and peace?
With that said, I do agree that the existence of alien life could threaten those who currently enjoy power and wealth on this planet. Especially if that alien civilization embraces ideals and beliefs that a certain segment of human society continues to promote for reasons of power and money.
I fully agree with this and thought the same thing when I read @LAY THE WOODY's post. The Vatican is both a religious and political entity. As are most religious organizations in this world.
I don't fully agree with this though. The Catholic Church serves many of its followers. It represents them too.
Not all though. There are, of course, Catholics who disagree with certain actions and teachings of their church. And this has always been the case.
