to our current situation is K-State ~10 years ago. They had suffered a brutal 12 years under coaches Tom Asbury and Jim Woolridge. They then hired Bob Huggins in 2006. He brought back enthusiasm to the program and had moderate success on the court but then bolted to WVU after one year. Their AD stepped up and hired an unknown Huggins assistant named Frank Martin. The AD was absolutely ridiculed locally and nationally (far worse than Holder is getting). For the record I'm hugely disappointed with this hire and would have preferred any number of other candidates including Doug. But there is precedent for this working out. Frank Martin is easily the most successful K-State coach in the past 20 years. Of course he ultimately left because he couldn't get along with the AD
