First time I've seen an articulation of the distinctions between working class Democrats and progressivism.

There has always been a "battle" (more like wrestling for control) within the Democratic Party between those who are more progressively inclined and those who are more centrists. Same thing occurs within the Republican Party between the far right and centrists.
