Obviously not an OSU topic. Sorry if that offends some of the purists on this site.
We now know that the post-season will start with a best 3 out of 5 series with Toronto. Game 1 will be on Thursday (in Toronto). Hamels is likely unavailable for that game after pitching yesterday. He will be available to pitch against them on Friday.
How would you guys set the rotation? Game 2 is obviously a Hamels start (he would also be available to pitch in Game 5 if needed. I think it is a tough call as to who starts Game 1 and 3 (and maybe 4).
Gallardo has the best record against Toronto this season.
Colby Lewis won 17 games this season and has pitched well against almost everyone other than the Angels this season.
Holland is considered to be the 2nd best pitcher in the rotation and has had playoff success, but was terrible for 5 games preceding his stellar final start of the season.
Perez has been up and down, but was very impressive in his final start of the season.
I really don't know what the right answer is here, and I am not sure there is one. With Toronto's high power offense, I would probably favor a pitcher who has more strikeout ability. Holland barely edges out Lewis with 0.71 K/inning vs. 0.70 K/inning this season (YG is at 0.66 and MP is at 0.62)
I think I would go with Holland in game 1, but I think the choice is a difficult one.
