Terence Crutcher killed in Tulsa; officer charged

Wow, that looks bad. I don't know what lead up to that, but he sure looked like he was complying at the time. Going to be a difficult one to justify in my opinion.

I have an initial feeling some police officers might get convicted on this one.

Get ready Tulsa.

Looks like they should - however, my concern now is a Dallas/Baton Rouge type "retaliation" by BLM sympathizers in Tulsa. Not good for anyone...

There shouldn't be any Ferguson-like riots or Dallas-like targeting of police. The Tulsa PD hasn't hidden anything and there appears to be no attempt at the cops protecting fellow cops who make mistakes.

Let the system work.

It sounded like there was a scuffle before. The helicopter pilots caught quite a bit. They were insinuating he may have been on something. You can also tell from the copter cam that he reached into the vehicle...and that was stupid.

If he had listened to the cops he would be alive.

Couldn't see what happened at the end did he reach for a cops gun? Looks bad.

Any audio of this from the officers on the scene? I don't understand why the guy is walking back to his car while police officers have their guns pointed at him.

My initial reaction is that if she's that scared in that situation, she probably shouldn't be a cop. Would love to hear the audio though.

Family claims he was on his way home from class at a community college and his car broke down. TPD said he did not have a gun on him or in the vehicle. They tazed him immediately before he was shot.

He can't be following orders, that's all I know.

Odds are she pulled the gun instead of the taser. But she's a cop and doesn't get to make that mistake.

Alternative theory: She's standing right next to the officer who fires the taser. It uses gunpowder to propel the darts through the air. Sounds like a gunshot only not as loud. She's got her finger on the trigger and pulls the trigger when she hears the taser fired....which would constitute a major violation of firearms safety, which is to keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot.

Just a theory.

The helicopter video is very informative. He walks back to his vehicle despite what he's probably being commanded to do (weapons drawn). He appears to be reaching into the vehicle. As the helicopter circles the passenger side the shots are fired and he goes to ground.

As far as the "they abandoned him" bullshit, the officer's first priority is safety. Once they determined he was no longer a threat, they are clearly seen rendering aid. The TFD engine arrives on scene at the 4:30 mark and they are able to provide advanced life support until the ambulance arrives. That's a very quick time from shots fired to TFD arrival.

Once again, we see a guy, hands up of course until he gets to his vehicle, get shot by the police and the police are immediately accused of wrong doing. In my 21 years of experience I've yet to encounter anybody who followed police commands get shot. There is a common theme, and it isn't the cops doing bad shit.

broke down car in the middle of the road like that? idk...

Copter cam looks strange. The conversation with the copter guys makes me think that he is not following orders. Stating that his is walking and acting strange like he is on something and a taze is imminent seems like orders are not being followed. I don't like this. Too much strange for BLM and the national media to even care. It was cops killing an innocent pastor. no details needed.

In their thumbnail, I don't see his hands up? Looks as if he is reaching into his vehicle or something.

Where are his raised hands??

And of those 19, how many were being compliant with police at the time they were shot? How many were tweaked out meth heads? Kind of a misleading statistic.
Oh I'm not vouching for tweet/stat. I just found a local News 9 in the midst of the national outrage. I agree with your point... comply with the police.

Have you ever experienced car trouble when driving down the road? If so, did you manage to drift to the left and cross the center line? More than half of this guy's vehicle is in the wrong lane than not. This man's instincts are completely jacked.

Toxicology results should be interesting.

This theory makes a lot of sense.

If he had been ordered to stop. He should have been tazed before he made it to his vehicle.

It looks like a bad shoot to me based solely upon the video, but there are offenses between "did nothing wrong" and "murder".

From an article on KOCO.com

Officer Tyler Turnbough, who is also white, used a stun gun on Crutcher, police said. Shelby's attorney, Wood, said Turnbough fired the stun gun at the same time Shelby opened fire because both perceived a threat.

Oh I know, it wasn't directed at you just the statistic the KOTV guy put out. Makes it sound like 19 innocent people have been killed by police when that likely isn't the case.

I just don't see where anyone was in imminent threat of severe bodily harm when he was shot. And they should have started some type of life saving efforts instead of backing off.

A 911 call said the guy ran up to her and said the car was going to explode. He was trying to get her to come back to car to show her. Between that, the comments by those in the helicopter, and the position of the vehicle, he likely was under the influence.

I'm also not sure tackling the guy in that situation is appropriate.

Again, listen to the cops and you live.
