Clarify something for me.
Why has TCU been anointed as a can't miss top 10 team? Do they really deserve the respect and benefit of the doubt that they are getting? I can understand when OU gets the benefit of the doubt based on history. I even understand people picking UT over OSU based on UT being a blue blood.
I get why TCU was picked as a top 10 team prior to the season. They were a top 10 team last season and had Boykin (Heisman candidate) coming back. BUT....their defense has looked bad and continues to suffer attrition. If this was Bama or Ohio State, I would expect them to continue to get a ton of respect, but what has TCU done? They were the tallest midget for years, then moved to the Big 12 and looked to be in over their head. One strong season should not be enough for the national media to continue slobbering all over them, but it is happening. If they lose 3 games this season (very realistic IMO), 2014 will look like the outlier, rather than the norm. Will TCU go back to being the team that is in over its head? I'm not so sure based on what is going on right now.
I don't remember OSU getting this respect in 2012. It seems like everyone considered 2011 to be a fluke. Maybe the difference is Boykin, or maybe Patterson v. Gundy is the difference. I hope Tech drills TCU tomorrow and they begin to be exposed as a paper tiger.
