Sys, Toon, Pilt and CUP Appreciation Thread

I want them all here so I can watch their grieving and suffering first hand. GOP in control of all three is going to be rough on them. The Supreme Court will be the clencher.

Pilt is kind of a dick, which I respect, so he's the only one of the four that I will sign to keep.

I would also sign to keep David and his smugness, even though he drives a Subaru.

My youngest daughter wants a Subaru. My son drives a pickup. Not that I am making any kind of generic gender based assumptions ;)

Any Britnla sightings lately?

B'Vill isn't really Liberal, but isn't really not either

We were driving into Manhattan last weekend and this woman comes racing by me with a license plate that said "femnst." Can you gues the car she was driving? Yes, a Subaru.

I wouldn't care if sys got a 4 week ban for losing the bet. We all know he would have upheld the bet. Toon IMO could be banned forever. The rest I like or don't mind.

Congrats Tumpinistas - you now have the near impossible job of actually governing.

Some hot takes:
  • Both parties are in deep shit. They both know it. Alt media, the new reality of an untrusted world (WikiLeaks, Project Veritas, et al), and a young demographic who could give a shit about tradition and authority have changed the political landscape forever.
  • They have no idea who they elected - Trump is the biggest RINO ever. The traditional religious conservatives will not be placated with a paper win and they will come to realize that is what they got over the coming year. I do not see Trump spending the kind of political capital they expect on their priorities (marriage equality and abortion for instance).
  • Trump's biggest existential threat is from his right flank - somewhere someone is dreaming up a Pence succession plan. Probability <1% but still interesting to contemplate.
  • Also on the "hmmm what if..." front, how many Repubs would have to caucus with the Dems to throw the Senate against a Trump administration? Gotta be some folks using that leverage right now to get some pet projects on the agenda or extract a few promises.
  • 83% straight line party voting this go round. I didn't do it, did you? Be honest now...
  • Midterms are gonna be a bitch. You guys have pissed off the big money and by putting them under threat you will see substantial $s flowing into targetted races to try and flip the House. At the same time, the Never Trumpers have to be worried about the populist backlash.
For the record - 2016 Lincoln MKX and 2017 F150 in the driveway.

Busy frying some bigger fish than this stupid Cascadia secession BS. Must say my respite from this joint has been relaxing and certainly well timed. I have snuck in periodically for a glimpse of what the plebs were thinking, will continue to do so. Won't be back as much as before but will check on you guys every now and then just so I can keep my eye on you all...

One more quasi-prediction:

Toward the end of February 2017, President Trump will grant a full and unconditional pardon of HRC citing a full review of the evidence and a desire to save the country the long hard process of a trial. HRC will be rightly outraged.

Death, taxes, and David ending a post with an ellipsis.

This is a good thing. Neocons and neolibs are essentially the same problem for both parties. I actually think the GOP is already past the tipping point and the Never Trumpers were the country club set that hung on till the end. Now they are begging for inclusion.

  • They have no idea who they elected - Trump is the biggest RINO ever. I think you are underestimating the American people's knowledge of who they elected. I think they know far better than you think they do and what the media was constantly telling them. He's not a Rino however. Rino's are neocons like Bush, Ryan etc. Trump is exactly what he seems to be and what people who voted for him know him to be - a socially agnostic businessman who isn't going to waste time on abortion or gay marriage (and he shouldn't). The new GOP does not want that and while the evangelicals do, they aren't idiots either. Everyone who voted for him knows exactly what they got.

  • Trump's biggest existential threat is from his right flank - somewhere someone is dreaming up a Pence succession plan. Probability <1% but still interesting to contemplate.

Agree - the never trumpers and neocons slinking back towards the scent of power is disgusting to behold. While he needs to unite, he does not need to compromise. He's the new seat of power that the GOP needs to adjust to - not the other way around. It's going to be vitally important to see what kind of team he puts together.

  • Also on the "hmmm what if..." front, how many Repubs would have to caucus with the Dems to throw the Senate against a Trump administration? Gotta be some folks using that leverage right now to get some pet projects on the agenda or extract a few promises.

You don't get the shtick do you? That's OK... Oh and it is spelled "braggadocious" - you missed a "g" in there.

I guess not. I don't have to understand. I thought you were pompous before that post so this doesn't move the needle either way.

Wishful thinking. The big money couldn't get a political dynasty elected. The big money is in trouble. The anti establishment movement is going to flourish for at least the short turn.

Trump supporters are emboldened now that they realize the power of their vote and I can see career politicians getting dumped if they don't bend to the will of the people.

Until Big Money gets a lid on the internet, it's not nearly as relevant as it once was. That's possibly the biggest brink the republic just stepped back from.

Mega for the win.

Christians as a group have moved into self-preservation mode. Electing Trump is a push back to the liberals /progressives that are outright hostile do anything Christian.

Post Trump, I imagine the Republican Party will be much more of a Libertarian bent. A proper libertarian doesn't elevate Christianity or any other competing moral base above any of the others in government affairs.
