Straight shooter?

This is VERY good to hear:
"In September, Mattis told Military Times that he is particularly concerned about civilian policy-makers making changes to the military to advance social policies.
“We are liable to find ourselves paying the cost on a battlefield that we do not want to pay,” Mattis said. “There is no God-given right to victory on the battlefield. You win that through the skill and the devotion, the valor and the ferocity of your troops. You have to be very, very careful, I think, if this gap grows, and it surely will. We have to be very careful that we do not undercut the military battlefield effectiveness with shortsighted social programs.”

That law is pretty clearly unconstitutional.Mattis cannot be formally nominated without a waiver from the law which states a retired senior officer must be away from the military for 7 years before being able to be nominated for these type positions. The Congress can pass a waiver to the law now but Obama probably won't sign it. Trump has to wait until January 20 before nominating him after the Congress passes the waiver and President Trump signs it. The waiver has to be signed into law before the official nomination can be submitted. This is how is was explained to me, but, I heard that on TV so its veracity could be in doubt.
I wonder what his opinion of women in combat and Maxwell Klingers out in the open is?
I'm mainly excited about a guy who seems to want to avoid conflicts but once in them wants to win them decisively and knows how to do that.
x2
Wondering about his thoughts on anything else is weird.

I've heard nothing but glowing superlatives from military guys.
