Agreed! Taking care of our vets should be a campaign trail theme at every stop. Any American that volunteers for the military and is subsequently posted to a war zone should never lack support services once they are back home.

While I fully support the troops and it saddens me that someone felt the need to take their own life, I question what exactly we want the government to do differently here? It already offers suicide prevention hotlines and counseling.

So what do we want the government to do differently? I don't mean to sound insensitive, and maybe I am out of touch. But I don't know what we want the government to do differently, and I don't settle for "well we have to do something". That's the same argument used by the gun-control crowd, the single-payer crowd, etc. If there are particular recommendations, I'm all ears. But I can't sign up supporting another government boondoggle even in support of our troops.
