Do I have this right?
We all run side-by-side with whomever we should blocking/slowing down/screening/hindering and watch them tackle McKlesky after a five-yard gain/loss. We've done this 20-30 times this year and I haven't seen a coach upset about it yet.
I was bitching about this on the punt before Miketavious' block, scoop and score. Jones is clearly as pissed as I am about our lack of return game.
I don't think it's McKlesky's fault. He's quick and fast and seems to be fearless back there (to a fault a couple of times earlier in the season), but he's overwhelmed by tacklers usually.
Have there been rules changes on punt returns which prevent slowing people down at the line? We put people against every player on the coverage team but we don't block them. If we aren't going to throw a block until after the returner makes the catch, put all 10 guys back there about 15 yards in front of him and form a wedge. That's facetious. Sort of.
