I've said before that this is the biggest challenge of socialized medicine, and the implementation of it in the US will lead to an even further gap between the upper and lower classes, as much like the wealthy in the UK and Canada come to the US for their elective surgeries, there will become a cottage industry of 'elective' doctors whom will become the defacto process for getting any future non-life threatening surgery. The loser in this will be the current middle class who will be taxed more for lesser coverage for all but the most critical illnesses.

I wish Congress would pass a law that says US Pharma has to sell medications for the cheapest price it is sold outside or within the US. Crazy how much cheaper drugs are outside the US. My wife has MS and the drugs she needs are so much cheaper outside the US we are talking tens of thousands of dollars. Some of these MS medications cost between $36K to $90K a year in the US .

I've been to both Toronto and Quebec and happened to go to a couple of malls. Saw these long lines to this tent thing in the middle of the mall and asked what everyone was doing....waiting in line to see a doctor.

There was a CNBC article a couple weeks ago about the NHS. Due to increased volume related to flu cases, they had to postpone all elective surgeries in Jan and Feb.

Not sure, but I don't particularly care for the hyperbole from either side. I'm looking at the solution pragmatically, and simply raising the concerns that I have every time I hear someone espouse the failings of the American health care system and how much better all these other countries have it.
