ISIS came out and took responsibility for this, saying the guy converted to Islam a few months ago. FBI is calling BS. I'm sure there are other instances where they have claimed things they weren't really involved it, but with this one being so easy to prove not true (if it isn't) this seems like a desperate attempt at attention in the U.S.

Pretty early to know anything about the scumbag right now. Bet if someone blamed it on the Russians, they would all in unison say it was so.

I agree.. I'm saying IF it turns out he had no connection it really seems like a desperate move. I obviously have no idea if he was or wasn't, but with the FBI already coming out saying its not true it seems less likely. Always possible though.

The shooters brother definitively stated that the shooter was not a political or religious person and that this was not terrorism. He had no idea why his brother did it, but clearly did not believe that religion/politics/terrorism were behind it.

JMO.

This guy clearly prepared and planned for this. He picked the venue. He picked the room that gave him the perfect vantage point to do the most damage.

If he were associated with ISIS, it seems likely that he would have taken steps to make it very clear what his motivation was. Like hanging an ISIS flag in the hotel room. Or leaving a note/video proclaiming his allegiance.

The shooters brother also said that they were not close and did not communicate often.

The FBI can say within hours if someone is a terrorist or not but they can't say if there was Russian collusion after year?

This might be a mad man that lost is retirement in Vegas and took revenge but there is no possible way they could know anything definitive this soon.

Cowpoke, I wasn't bagging on ya either. Sorry that was kind of a short statement originally. Will be interesting to find out what made this idiot snap. I seriously doubt it had anything to do with ISIS, crazier things have happened though.

I didn't think you were. I was just clarifying my point.

Good deal Cowpoke...sometimes I can come off a bit short and aholeish......something I'm working on by taking an online course from our very own JimmyBob called "WTF R U SAYIN."

Mark me down as one that think this might be traced back to ISIS. I think this chick got this guy to convert either with money and sex or for the thought of love. IT all it just to odd.

She isn't even Muslim (at least I don't think so).

I still say that if this dude wanted to make some kind of political statement, he would have done so. He clearly put a ton of planning into this and was smart enough to make it all work (not to mention smart enough to be a multi-millionaire). For someone so smart, it would be colossally stupid to forget to let everyone know that you were doing this in support of ISIS.

I doubt the guy is related to Isis, more likely Antifa IYAM.

You say, this guy "clearly prepared and planned for this. He picked the venue. He picked the room that gave him the perfect vantage point to do the most damage". That certainly suggests some powerful underlying motivation. I don;t know what it is, but I wouldn't be quick to dismiss some political component to it. Why shoot hundreds of unrelated strangers if you're pissed off at Vegas because of your gambling losses?

The other thing that seems so odd about him is why so many guns in the room if he had the automatic firepower?

I doubt he was pissed at Vegas about gambling losses. I doubt he had anything to do with Antifa. Might not have even known what it was.

We will probably never know the answer to these questions though.

True, which means we probably should take his comments with a grain of salt.

What I find interesting is how little there is on this guy, especially in this day and age. I mean the media really only has two pictures him (that I've seen). A picture of when he was younger and another picture of him with his eyes close. No social media footprint, etc.

In terms of a political motive, that could still be true. However, I would think if this was political, he would have left behind something indicating that. Also, if he was so obsessed with politics as to do something this drastic and crazy in order to make a statement, his politics should have stood out more to others.

I think two possibilities worth considering (based on what we know) are (1) he had an onset of a medicial condition that affected his mind (perhaps something he didn't even know about, similiar to the brain tumor found in Charles Whitman) or (2) he was suicidal and decided to go out by making a name for himself in a sick way.

They did an autopsy and did not find anything unusual.
