I find it funny that the only violence associated with the MAGA hat is when someone wearing it is attacked, yet it’s the new white hood. Don’t think those spouting that nonsense paid attention in history class.
Time to make political affiliation a protected class of hate crime. This shit has got to stop.
If roles were reversed. Is there ANY doubt this would be national news and the silly “hate crime” designation would be thrown about?
My suggestion is to remember the symbolism is broadly considered racist, fascist, and a symbol for abandoning the rule of law. This country just isn't a safe space for that.
This is what the intersection of stupid narratives and an unaware and compliant citizenry looks like. Hopefully this dude is able to pack on some emotional maturity quick. That lack of impulse control can lead to prison time in the real world.

I want to hate this but you are 100% right. It’s disgusting that a campaign slogan imploring us to literally Make America great again has been demonized to mean something it never represented but that’s a testimony to successful counter branding.
I think the remedy is to wear that stuff and let people continue to show their ass over a hat. That’s even better counter branding.
