Stupid California laws and spoiled beta children make for no one wanting to pick apples for 22$/hour.

This would be perfect for people about a month into rehab. All that energy and appetite, go do three months in the fields. Lots of school busses not running right now. Maybe these farmers could make a swing through the top unemployed cities in America and offer some jobs.

@Ponca Dan what is the free market solution to a labor shortage?

Raise the pay scale to attract more workers. Everything - EVERYTHING - including laborers, are subject to supply and demand. Of course if we're talking pie-in-the-sky, as an anarchist that doesn't believe in borders, it would be easy to attract workers that would love to do the work. But that's pie-in-the-sky thinking. It is much more sensible to force prisoners or others to do your bidding.

Not bad. That's more than the average starting teacher's salary in California. Almost makes that $1,500 a month, one bedroom apartment in San Diego doable.
