At 4 months I am now diagnosed with the rare "postherpetic neuralgia" (PHN). PHN average symptoms is 3 1/2 years. My next agenda is pain management.

My antiviral medications for acute zoster did not prevent PHN. For me, pain medication is now indicated, so doctor tells me. I may need to visit pain management who fixed my sciatica.

For those who need one, please take your Shinglex vax. I would trade copperhead bites on both feet and another pit bull dog attack for this.

Burnt what are the odds of you having at least 1/3 of the sickle cell ? 😉
Glad you are past the worst of the shingles; describe your pain a little & I may have an RX for ya

Chest pain when I'm up and about. Stress test at the hospital showed all tests normal. Soar and stiff around the purple area from middle chest around the left to middle back. Mostly itching.

Doctor says we may try prednisone.

Sorry to hear SBI. A friend of mines wife just got over shingles, he said she was in misery the whole time she had it. I think she got the vax after not sure.
I know pain myself, I am on the back end of a 5 week long gout flare up. The severe pain went away after a couple of weeks but the swelling and minor pain is just now going away. First flare up I ever had was about 4 yrs ago. The night before my foot was tingling on top of my ankle and itching, the next morning I got up and almost fell from not being able to walk on my right foot and the pain was unbearable I thought I had broken my foot somehow in my sleep. Did some research and realized it was gout. I had heard of it but didn't know what pain was until I got it and wouldn't wish it on anyone even sys.
I have made some changes already and will see if I can get rid of the flare ups as they are not frequent and only happens once every yr or so since the first one 4 yrs ago. Would like to get to a point I never get them again.
Hope your situation gets better for ya brother.

Rest assured ignored, we are laughing at you not with you.

Burnt tell your doc to get a better steroid on board than that or give you some oxycodone as short of that you plan to start “drinking heavily”. Sometimes you have to use shock effect on stubborn people

Prior to this, my worst pain was a copperhead bite on the left foot. It was like putting a lit cigar butt against the skin and leaving it. This pain is not as intense but it just keeps lingering and lingering. 24 hours after the snake bite, I was at Baylor stadium watching OU pound Baylor with a purple left foot 2 times the size of the right with just mild pain.

The pit bull bite and scratches were virtually painless. Maybe I was more surprised by the attack. The series of rabies shots were much worse. I didn't have to do the shots around the abdomen. They tell me that's past policy. The truck driver team and dog bolted before Weatherford, TX animal control arrived at the Petro Truck Stop at incident site. And no. I didn't see Sysk.

Maybe see a pain specialist? Nerve blocks may be helpful. I know there's an anesthesiologist/pain specialist on this board, I just can't remember his Rivals handle.
