Scuffle.

Mr. Earl and I are going to the Scuffle and we have been 5-6 times in the past. I think we will have a surprise or two in who is going. The tournament is well run and every weight has several highly ranked wresters. Do we have a reasonable expectation of winning. That is probably not in the cards as. Flo's latest team rankings have us at #15. I do expect a few changes in the lineup and am always an optimist.Anyone else going?

Wow. Very loaded.

Plenty of opportunity for some of these guys to prove themselves. It will be interesting to see the brackets.

You are right, we will see if our team is developing. Up to the Southern Scuffle overall I have seen very little development. With good results here development would need to be shown. I am hopeful but we will see.

Unfortunately Kevin Dresser announced that none of ISU's elite guys like David Carr, Batsida, Johnson, Swiderski, Coleman etc will be attending the Scuffle.

That’s too bad. They must need a break.

Virginia Tech also out and I can't confirm on Stanford... looks like it's just OSU, Minnesota, and Missouri as far as power player teams. Northern Colorado and Purdue there. Maryland has three guys that are pretty good. Biggest tests will be for Carter and Doucet. Surber also in a deep weight with the #1 Elam there. Fortunately we are sending pretty much everybody so we'll get to see how some of the backups and freshmen look too.

Personally excited to see Mastro get another shot at McKee and Voinovich another shot at Blockhaus.

Hopefully no one else drops. Midlands was ravaged by most all the big guns pulling out. It’s a problem in college wrestling right now.

Really hope we still send the 24 or so that John said we are sending... just speculating but this is who I have possible...

125: Mastro, Blakenship
133: Fix, Witcraft... Birdwell? If he's healthy
141: Carter, Bloemhof, Teague
149: Victor, Cutter Sheets, Manibog, Jordan Williams (possible 157)
157: G, Travis Mastro, McLane, Mechler (if healthy)
165: Wyatt, Skidgel (honestly hope a couple of the 157s wrestle up at this weight)
174: Plott
184: Wittlake, Haas (if healthy), Stika
197: Surber
Hwt: Doucet

OSU Twitter posted 22 guys going and Williams at 149.

No Blankenship (still being cautious as he recovers) and no Birdwell.

Why are all of these teams dropping out?
This kills me. I'm a degenerate and am in 4 fantasy wrestling leagues. 3 moves per week caught on this year and half or more of my pickups scratched this week and I can't do anything about it.

Not to mention the watered down competition for fans. I've been watching Midlands and the Salute the past 2 days. Sucks.

The salute didn’t look like much more than an Iowa practice.

Fantasy college wrestling? I had no idea.

Southern Scuffle used to have several top teams. Not sure if the collegiate duals have anything to do with it this year or teams just trying to get fully healthy before dual season really begins. I know ISU is pretty banged up. Not sure why Cornell dropped. Would be great to have a few more big names going.

Had planned to go till starting seeing ISU pulling out as well as similar at Midlands & Iowa tourneys. Glad changed mind, started out looking like a very competitive tournament, now not so much. :(

Mizzou scratched 3 top seeds - Mauller, O'Toole & Elam.

Flo has an interview with Brian Smith. Loosely translated...no one cared about duals before and now no one cares about tournaments. It's all about resting guys and protecting seeds.

Things are so bad that last year Cardinale took a MFF in the Scuffle finals against McKee.

Where I’m from we got a word for that. And it rhymes with wussy‘s. Very sad one of the toughest sports has come to this. But it’s been a long time coming I suppose.

NCAA or someone needs to step in. This will start effecting the sport and make it difficult to grow the wrestling fanbase.

What’s the best way to know when our guys are coming up? I got Flo so the family can do some watching today. Just not sure how to be reminded of when to tune in. Do I need to constantly check Twitter or Floarena?

If you go into the brackets on floarena you can set up notifications for the wrestlers you want to watch, either by email or text message.
