Rural Red State Poverty

Red, because they're also geographically isolated from capital.

Blue, because the negative effects are amplified by population density.

Isnt it both?
It's clearly blue for three reasons:

One is what you stated, population density. The count of people impacted by inner city poverty is significantly greater than the number of poor ruralites.

Two is the fact that as a country went actually tried to address the inner city issue and have thrown trillions of dollars at that problem and yet it's only gets worse.

And three, the inner city poverty and it's cultural impact spills over and effects the rest of society. You can't be in certain areas at night, businesses are vandalized and destroyed, etc. Whereas rural poverty, while sad for those living in those conditions as well as the children raised in such squaller, rarely impacts those around them nor do those who holds power in those areas hold back those who do try to raise themselves out of such poverty, unlike the gang leaders and drug dealers of the inner city who fight against and intimate anyone who tries to improve those areas.

Red State Poverty Citizens are usually quite happy and don't bitch about what they don't have and are thanful for what they do have that they work hard for.
Blue State Inner City Poverty Citizens want everything but don't want to work for it. And most of them will steal it from those that do.
