Against Oakland, we had at least 3 steals followed by run outs for dunks at the other end. I’m willing to bet that we haven’t done that three times in the same game since ES was our coach. Under him, those pays were extremely common. What has changed in your opinion?
I know that the biggest difference is defensive philosophy. But it seems that Underpants and MB liked to extend their D, which would put their guys in better position to get the steal and go. That also doesn’t account for Ford , who did ascribe to that defensive philosophy.
I can’t imagine that it is due to lack of athleticism, as all 3 coaches have had some elite athletes on the perimeter.
Have offensive systems changed? More reliance on safe passes? Maybe the lack of the closely guarded 5 second rule, and more freedom of movement for offensive players has reduced the need for risky passes.
Thoughts?
