I had just seen the remake of the Magnificent Seven a few weeks ago and remember commenting to my son, that Vaughn was the only surviving member of the main cast. He was actually under contract to Burt Lancaster's production company and was set to play a couple of leading roles in production, but got drafted by the Army and that delayed his career by many years.
