The thing was, she was also an incredibly good actress when taking a turn in a serious drama.
I remember watching her in Ordinary People, where she plays...... well, no better way to say it but a hateful beyotch. She did so well in the role you actually forgot she was MTM for the duration of the film.
It was one of the handful of roles she ever played on the big screen and she was Oscar nominated for best Actress. Why she never did more, or was offered more film roles is a mystery to me. Most of the movies she did were the "made for tv", lower budget variety.
