I was just learning Johnny B Goode this evening for fun and thought about how interesting his licks were when you think about the fact that there was no Chuck Berry for Chuck Berry to borrow ideas from. A true innovator and a great showman.
His G string bends inspired guitar solos and guitar licks for decades to come. Jimmy Page and Ace Frehley used them a lot and so have many others.

I loved his music, but I've got admit---I saw some video he had secretly recorded at his house and could never look at him the same way. He had "bugged" his bathroom and bedroom and had videos of lots of his sexual adventures. In addition he had also installed hidden cameras in the women's rooms of a restaurant and other businesses he owned.
The video turned my stomach, I actually was dry-heaving and had to turn it off after a few seconds. Let's just say that ol' Chuck was into water sports and that he was probably a huge fan of "two girls and one cup." (It was that level of nasty.)
