I would actually be all for this. If everyone agreed that this would put the balance sheet at zero, no more special anything for anybody after this then sure why not. If black communities take off and thrive, great for everyone. If crime and poverty linger at disproportional rates then we know we tried and we can just say we tried and move on.

I think it would be a cool experiment.

This is going to sound dark, but it doesn’t matter what it is called. The appetite for greed and envy seems to be growing. There is a stronger movement to take from others than there has been in generations. The need for political power and identify politics is foreshadowing a not-so-distant-future of crushing taxes on the upper middle class and middle class to fund money guarantees for all.

Senator Karen Gillibrand (she of the “hoaxes are real rape claim” and potential 2020 Dem President candidate) is supporting an idea of guaranteed income and jobs for all. And wanting to fund by adding incremental taxes on middle class families.

No matter what, the payout will never be enough, distributed fairly or be seen as full absolution. This is a vote getting move and nothing else. I think it’s political suicide in that why would you “pay off” maybe 13% of the population at the risk of alienating a far greater percentage? What of the Asians that were basically indentured servants? This isn’t a slippery slope, it’s a straight drop.

Do see your point HSH. Just can’t believe it would be a satisfactory solution over the long haul though and IMHO it would deprive the left of one of their prized rallying cries “victimization.”
