I do not understand what you wrote. Would you please clarify?Any essay that starts out noting a mass shooting isn't common sense.
Really? That’s your take? Did you actually read either one of them? Can you give an example where either essay attempted to manipulate the emotionally vulnerable? That part shot right over my head!Same thing, pathetic attempt at manipulating the emotionally vulnerable
I thought this was a fair and well thought out article.
And by that method they were manipulating the emotionally vulnerable? Obviously you are free to form your own opinion, but my opinion is you are way off base with that charge.I read them both, and I don't think much of either. Both start with putting the image of innocent lives lost and proceed to outline outlandish proposals made by others then introducing pretty radical solutions of their own that seem reasonable by comparison.
I guess I'm missing what PDT816 is referring to. I read this one and it's pretty much a summation of all the things that have been proposed as "common sense" regulations with his thoughts on why they won't impact the problem of mass shootings. Nothing groundbreaking from my view, but it's well written. Many of those things have been discussed ad nauseum on here.
Good read. He discusses the emotional pleas for solutions that won't work but cause people to buy in based on their own emotions anyhow. "Let's just do something." I agree that just doing "something" that doesn't produce actual results is wasting everyone's time and energy. Serious thoughts need to be given to the subject without distraction from emotions.
Agree completely. Hopefully the lawmakers will have some serious discussion on these types of issues after the piss down your leg knee jerk reaction to AR15 DEATH MACHINE!!!!! subsides.Actual common sense discussions to have on the subject regarding school shootings....
These are just a few off the top of my head that actually address the world we live in. Sadly, mass shootings are here to stay and addressing it from a gun control angle is sheer fantasy.
- Most important -- whether or not it's practical to expect the government to be able to save you whether it's legislation or logistically once shit hits the fan. What is the best strategy for you to take if you find yourself in a mass shooting situation or in the worst case scenario; if it's your kids.
- Are public school building designs and the school's emergency response policies saving students or getting more killed?
- Does the public education system bare any responsibility in creating these monsters? Same goes for society at large, entertainment, etc.
- How good of a job is law enforcement doing when a mass shooting takes place?
