This may have been discussed before. But what is up with Cane's love affair with UO? If the owner was a graduate of the school, I can understand. But it's a turnoff to see signs saying they support UO athletics.

Did you avoid the Corral for the past 3 weeks?

In a rivalry like this, if you're a neutral business, it would be in your best interest to stay out of the fray.

Heard all the talk about Tulsa, was in quail springs buying my tickets to the big screen showing of Young Frankenstein this wed, and the raising canes there is covered in goon stuff. Had my orange on and walked by and said it's a shame I can't eat here now that you support only one state school. Grabbed some chick fil a next door.

I'm 99% sure they are LSU fans...not sure if they are alumni. Out of Baton Rouge so you'd almost have to be an LSU fan or killed. They are just jumping on the bandwagon of ou to make a statement of some kind. You did hear of their new chicken plate...toothless chicken....don't need any teeth to eat it.

The three founders are from LSU. The story I heard from a couple of LSU friends (I go to Baton Rouge about once per month on business) is that the founders of Raising Cane'S wrote their business model for the business as a MBA thesis, but got a bad grade. Now every year they send their annual revenue sheet to that professor.

But on to the subject .. I have no idea why they promote OU so much. On the marquee by the Cane's near my house it says Boomer Sooner. And a billboard just east of Bass Pro is for Cane's but has OU logo. It is very expensive to have rights for the OU logo so I assume they feel they paid so much $$$ for the usage rights that they need to leverage it on as many assets as possible.

I only ate there once. They're so proud of their says they charge 50 cents each for it.

That in itself was enough for me to not go back on principle. Hide it in the chicken price or eat it yourself.

I ain't payin no 50 cents for no sauce.

I dont understand why it is popular in general, the chicken is ok, and their sauce is not that great, certainly not good enough to charge for it. I'll stick with Chickfla and their free sauce.

The founders of both Cain's and Zaxbys both worked at a chicken place in Alabama called Guthrie's. Reportedly the recipes for the chicken tenders and "secret" sauce are near identical to Guthrie's. Both seemed to have followed pretty much the business practices of the original, so coming up with a business plan should not have been too difficult.

It would be like someone working for Eskimo Joe's, learning everything they could about the place. Then taking the concept - changing the name and coming up with their own catchy designs and graphics and then acting like they were so successful all on their own merits.

I had a half-price grand opening coupon so I tried it and I have to say, I wasn't that impressed and especially for the price. That being said, they never appear to be short of customers at the MWC outlet.

Once again I enter bizarro-thread where people insist that the product isn't very good. And yet every real human I've ever mentioned Cain's to loves the place.

There is no mystery at play here. If the corporate directive to regional marketing people is to align with the local big game college (or pro) team to make the chain appear "friendly to the locals", then ou is the choice in Oklahoma. Someone is doing their job, that's why there are ou logos on Cain's ads.

That said, I'm happy that Oklahoma Pokes want to boycott the place.

I like Cane's. Pretty good stuff. Eat at the one on 240 here in okc. Haven't been in awhile to see if there is any goon stuff strewn about. If so, I won't go back. Pretty simple.

It's not bad, I just wasn't that impressed given the: price + value + quality equation.

4 chicken fingers (not very large), a 2 oz cup of coleslaw, about 16 french fries and a soft drink is $7, the same thing with 3 fingers is $6.35.

Certainly not outrageous, but compared to other dining options in my general vicinity, not exactly a bargain.

It's not that great Tons.

I remember eating it in Shreveport years ago and thinking it was decent so I looked forward to them opening here.

Went there a couple of times and haven't been back. It's just not that great.

I am a fan of zaxbys though.

Raising Cains uses the part of the chicken beast that I cut off and throw away or fed to the dog at home. I'm sure not going to pay $8 for it again.

That location seems to be pretty neutral. They've got the Barry Sanders "Superman" touchdown leap photo on the wall.

I've never had this chicken beast you speak of. Is this where they grind up everything, beak, legs and all? I don't know about that.
