@davidallen

My team is hosting product training for the Field Applications Engineering team next week in wonderful rain soaked Portland (technically, Wilsonville).

We have one evening event planned at an indoor (critical for Portland in January) karting location that just opened in Hillsborough.

For dinner other evenings, any recs? A buddy said check out Jake's Crawfish House downtown.

IMO Jakes is over rated - it is part of a chain these days (McCormick and Schmicks IIRC). Still gets good ratings, my perception might be based on what it was vs. what it is now.

My favorite higher end spot is Five Spice in Lake Oswego - great menu. Great wine list. Good service. Beautiful location. You can go get some great ice cream at Salt and Straw right around the corner. Don't do what @HighStickHarry did - the Maple Fig Ice Cream incident is legend.

For a nice local brew try Sasquatch - they have a picture of @JonnyVito on the wall.

Give me a DM when you are in town. I will do what I can to get you some sunny days!

Thanks Dave. If you figure out how to get the sun to appear with the forecast I'm seeing, I'll owe you more than a good Pinot...

I wondered if that was the deal with Jake's. I knew it was part of the chain and I was surprised to see it.

Lake Oswego is very convenient - close to where everyone is staying. We'll have to give Five Spice a try for sure.

Been racking my brain trying to think of a good breakfast recommendation given where I think you are staying (ES?)...I got nothing close. The Babica Hen is about 4 miles away, but kinda loops you around toward Wilsonville. They do a nice breakfast. Enjoy!

I'm actually staying at Courtyard Tigard. Others are spread throughout the area... Wasn't a big enough event to warrant a single hotel block of rooms.

Monday is the only day I'll be looking for breakfast. We have food catered at the training room the rest of the week.

Babica Hen is a good suggestion logistically - just 2 miles due East of my hotel. I'll look into it.
