With a straight face the mayor of the most violent god foresaken city in the country who doesn't do anything to protect blacks from gang violence has now proclaimed he can protect illegals from trump. Why is reality so elusive to liberals??!!

They have to just be evil because they are too smart to believe their own bs. I get why young people buy in but he knows as it comes out of his mouth that he doesn't care at all about minorities.
He and all pols on both sides don't give a shit about anything except re-election and maintaining the status quo.
You wonder how long he'll hold that position when the federal government threatens to withhold funds....

Heard last night that it's going to take legislation to withhold federal funds and that may be hard given the filibuster. However, the INS can issue directives to Mayors to hold illegals for INS pick-up (just like the directive San Francisco ignored in the murder of Kate Steinle). If the Mayor or his underlings refuse the directives they can be determined to he "harboring" illegals. The Mayor could then be arrested since harboring is illegal.
Imprimis, if I'm not mistaken a very large number of people up for election in two years are now from states that went red. I would think that anyone with an idea to stay elected would support holding funds up.
Like your info though. The other route would be loosening up the laws where it is easier to sue officials instead of cities. Get a few multimillion dollar suits leveled against you, might give you a different perspective.

There are 8 GOPs of which 6 are from red states. There are 25 dems and 2 independents up for reelection and a large number are from red states. Several may retire and not rerun which would allow them some ability to toe the hard line. Trump and the Congress can start the withholding of funds process while at the same time using the DOJ, INS, and other agencies to go after the Mayors for harboring.
Let one Mayor spend one night in a jail cell and see how quick things change.
