I know we have some good one's that come on this site.

We have a 13 year old Yorkie and up until Sunday he seemed to be doing fine. Of course he's a little over weight, 12lbs, and he's really slowed down the last couple of years. Sleeps a great deal of the time and is all in on eating. But until Sunday he would bark at outside noises (he absolutely goes bonkers over the trash truck and the UPS truck) of course he barked at strangers and he loved to play tug of war and chase the ball. He seemed fine on Saturday then on Sunday all the sudden he became disoriented and couldn't see or hear. All he has been doing is laying there making no sounds and sleeping. He's still eating but we have to set him in front of his bowl.

I know he's old and it may just be his time but it happened so suddenly it seems odd. I know his vision and hearing weren't what they once were but to go away like that all of the sudden seems odd.

We took him to the Dr. and she took a blood sample which we haven't gotten the results from yet. Is this old age or did he get into something or catch something?

Tough to say. Sounds like an extremely rapid and significant change for it to just be old age. If you don't get an answer from the vet you saw, I would suggest a second opinion. Sounds like the vet needs to focus on evaluation of vision and a thorough neuro exam (to look for signs of an issue involving the brain).

Thank you for your response. He seemed better this afternoon he can't see out of his right eye but seems to have some vision in his left and he seems to be hearing better. Weird.
