Went home for lunch break today and watched the first hour of the pilot.

Holy Refritos, Batman! This is one crazy show, but I think I love it. Looking forward to catching the rest of the pilot tonight, and I think I am already hooked. It reminds me of (1990 TV show) Twin Peaks. You don't know quite what is going on and just when you think it has hit a new level of craziness, it takes it up a notch.

One thing is for sure....it is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than Fear The Walking Dead (which I decided to give up on after last night's episode).

Anyone else watch Preacher yet?

Watched it last night and am a big fan of the comics.

As crazy as it was, it's actually saner than the comics. They did a good job of translating the absolutely scandalous, blasphemous, sacrilegious, insanely over the top tone And story of the comic books into something that the average viewer would not be wildly offended by. It'll be fun watching to see if they can walk that very thin line.

I recorded it, but haven;t watched it yet. Buzz is almost 100% positive.

Thanks for the spoiler..

You're welcome.

Not really much of a spoiler though, and there is no guarantee that's the way the show will go with it. They are already pretty off the reservation of the comic books.

I guess I screwed up. I spoiled myself watching the first episodes last week and now I'm stuck having to wait a week for the next one.

While we now have a basic understanding of who the main characters are and their relationships to each other, if someone walked into the TV room and asked for a 30-second synopsis, they'd think we'd lost our minds. I love it.

I'm anxious to see more of the western-era character. Disappointed they didn't touch on him in the last episode.

any thoughts or ideas on the western era character? Is the tree that the preacher sits under in the yard of the church the same tree the dead people were hanging from?

I'm assuming that the western era character is someone we will see later. Not sure if he will be a friend to the Preacher or a very evil man, but I am betting on the latter. I think you are right about the tree, but also not real sure about that.

Looked the same to me. I intended to back it up and compare the trees, but forgot. Isn't the preacher out west an ancestor of Preacher?

I though it was cool that the cowboy was riding back in time, the farther he rode. Like looking back into time with a telescope; the farther your telescope can see, the older the light it sees.

Wow! Just watched the last episode. Yep. Looks like he sent him straight to.

Don't have any particular reason, but I assumed the guy from the wild west was a previous Genesis possession

I have all episodes on the DVR but have not watched any .. Should I or should I just delete and go about my business? Same with Vinyl?

I liked Vinyl but they cancelled it already. Preacher has been renewed for season 2 already. I don't like Preacher but I seem to be the minority. I don't watch GOT either. Gave up in season 2.

Opinions are all over the board on this one. I for one really like it. The randomness of the first several episodes is coming together. It is violent and funny with an intriguing story line. Dont have an opinion on vinyl, havent watched it.

I'd say that if you start Preacher, give it a chance and watch all the episodes to date to decide if you want to watch the next season instead of deciding after one episode.

I personally think you will like it.

@mseabolt, as I said above, I watched all the recorded episodes in a couple of days then watched #6 "live." In some ways, I think that could be the best way to get into the show.

Because there are so many wtf? moments in the first two or three episodes, I can see how people would be turned off and give up on the show. But if you can hang on long enough for storylines to start to merge, you will be rewarded to see a creative and surprisingly logical story.

Granted, the logic of the story involves a suspension of reality on the viewer's part that may be slow to develop because of the show's seemingly "normal" outward appearance. The craziness becomes more delicious the farther into the story you go.

In short, binge-watch what you have and I'm certain you'll be eager to watch the new episode this weekend. That, plus the fact that I know your true twisted nature.

I like the series, but I think binge watching the season if you had it DVR'd would make it much more enjoyable. They kind of string you along with some aspects that would be a lot more tolerable if you're not waiting months to get answers.

Talk about tripping...I kept thinking what a sane person might think if they sat down and watched the complete season finale with no inkling of what had happened in the first 7 episodes.

Then in the final seconds the cowboy shows up and does what he does best to the angel just as the credits roll. The finale would be tough to explain even if you think you understand wtf.

On the talk show afterwards, they said virtually all of season one was just a preamble to the actual story and that the comic starts with season two. Most of what we have seen so far is explained in the comic as flashbacks.

Yep.

Last scene with Cassidy, Tulip, and Jesse in the diner is the first scene in issue one.

I have no idea how they're gonna portray some of what comes next...even on a cable network.
