"There is a big difference between a campaign where it is a private venue using private funds, and a government entity," Spicer said in a panel discussion when asked about banning media organizations in the future.

"And I think we have a respect for the press when it comes to the government. That is something that you can't ban ... Conservative, liberal or otherwise, I think that's what makes democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship."

Mr. Trump has surrounded himself with a bunch of "yes-men".....and women (Kelly Anne).............Spicer is no different..........Thats why I posted the other day that I really like General McMaster as National security adviser, but I bet he doesn't last three weeks....he said yesterday that the term "Radical Islamic Terrorist" is wrong because terrorist are "un-Islamic" , I bet that does not go over well at the White house

...and Trump takes the lead in the race to the bottom. They'll sell it as "these news sources aren't credible" but it comes off as a tantrum from a thin skinned adolescent taking revenge against his critics.

The current landscape reminds me a little of 2008. Republicans were on the run but the Dems effed it up. I've got a feeling the Republicans are about to make a similar mistake.

Does that surprise you? Has there ever been a time when either party didn't muck it up?

President Obama regularly met with liberal media while excluding conservative outlets like FOX, didn't hear libs say word one about it.

The bitching and moaning about this new administration is becoming a shrill siren that is going to get old for everyone soon not just Trumps base.

No liberal was quoted in the OP. Obama also scheduled and went through exclusive one on one interviews with Fox.

Also, can you provide a specific example and date when the Obama administration specifically barred Fox from an otherwise public press conference?

I never said anything about a public press conference. These news outlets weren't barred from a public press conference. It was a press gaggle that is by invitation.

Can't give you a date when Obama did his private meetings but Ari Fleischer and Brooke Baldwin discussed it at length Friday on CNN, hardly a Trump friendly outlet.

So you can't give a date and now you're citing a recollection of something you saw "fake news"...

Okay.

I'm going to be nice even though you can be very obtuse. Do they teach that in law school?

It's a fact Obama met many times in private meetings with liberal press only. I'm not going to look up all the dates but here's one example documented by an outlet I'm sure you read regularly Politico. Here's a quote from the article.

"The meeting, one of many such off-the-record meetings the president has held with members of the media during his tenure"

Don't read politico. You didn't provide a date and cited a recollection of something you saw on "fake news" CNN. That wasn't being obtuse, that was a call to establish support for you bare contention.

Off the record meetings held in addition to on the record briefings aren't exactly the same thing as an on the record meeting in which you bar certain media members that is held in lieu of the daily press briefing, but that is probably me just being obtuse again.

I can't give the instance but Geraldo said this morning that fox was barred from something and the three networks said they would boycott if fox wasn't allowed.

Was fox then allowed?

I dunno.

I just thought the original Spicer quote was very interesting. It's not like he's a liberal just crying wolf.

I don't know my kids were yelling at me while I was listening. He was just commenting that the press should come together as they did when obama tried to exclude them. I don't know if it was a trip or a meeting or what.
