Been a few years, But a place downtown called Jakes. Casual dress. Incredible food. Almost overdosed on the salman cakes.
Take the gal to see the rose gardens up on the hill. Old lumber barron mansion of some sort.

Pittock Mansion. Great stop.

Nice craft brew and good food up in the Westhills at Sasquatch (attention @JonnyVito). Best triple I’ve ever had. Really like the Electric Red as well.

ToroBravo for Tapas.
Paleys Place for Northwest fare.
Apizza Scholls, they must mix a little cocaine in the dough as it is so addictive.
Park Kitchen downtown after a visit to Powell’s.
Ringside has best Steak in town.
If you head south take a look at Five Spice in Lake Oswego. Great wine list, our family fancy spot.

Hell, just call me. I’ll take you on a tour. Screw the diet!

Jakes sold to McCormack and Schmick’s As I recall, not as good these days IMO.

Little Bird for Continental Cuisine, couple blocks away from my office, nice cozy spot.

Salt and Straw for Gourmet (and weird) ice cream.

Do Voodoo Donuts, but just for the atmosphere. Blue Star has best donuts on the planet (dare you to compare @cactusjackosu)

Best way to get from airport to downtown? Light rail? Max light rail?

Max or Lyft. You will need to transfer trains to get to your hotel and haul luggage 3 or 4 blocks. Splurge for the Lyft.

Great hotel. We had retreats there periodically, though it is only 3 or 4 miles from our place.

We are staying at Youngberg Hill. But plan on seeing several in the valley.
Nice place, wine is good. Get over to Dundee and visit Argyle (winemaker is an aTm Aggie but a good dude), Panther Creek is awesome. For a crafty experience go to Carlton Winemakers Studio - real gems there including Andrew Rich.

My winemaker (when we were making) is Marcus Goodfellow at Matello. Best damn Pinot. He is downtown McMinnville - tasting room at least.

Enjoy!

OP, there is a Country Cat at the airport but if you can head over to Stark Street to the original Country Cat, dig in, if not airport it is. Thank me later.

Piazza Italia still in business?

My cousin co-owns a chain of wing places called Fire on the Mountain. There are 3 of them there, but the newest one on Fremont has a brewery and pizza oven in it. Go check it out. She's a Houston native and graduated from SFA.

Ok any idea how long it takes a Lyft to get there? Just order when we are off the plane? We are going to hit up downtown All day Sunday. Then Monday afternoon head toward wine country

6-10 minutes from the request to a car typically. Get your bags, click the button, and by the time you get out to pick up area you will have a car.

Make sure you soak up some of the local culture. Let’s see, there’s white people...

...that’s it, just white people.

Any good place to watch superbowl downtown near the kimpton riverplace?
Tough one as the local Alumni group watches games out in the burbs - don't get downtown much for FB. Having said that BWW about 6 blocks away. In the Pearl District nice rooftop sports bar, forget the name...

Voodoo Doughnuts is overrated. They put one in Denver a few years ago and we haven't been impressed.

Go to Por Que No for the best street tacos you'll ever have. I still think about that place more than 4 years after visiting.

There's a really good biscuit place that we went to also, but the name escapes me. Any help with that one @davidallen?

Speaking of over rated... PorQueNo is great if you want dry, over seasoned meh. Sorry CP, not worth my time.

When @davidallen gose to Portland does he hug a tree?
Just my wife, kids, and the grandbaby. The Corgis if they don't smell too much like dogs. Maybe the cats, the grey one is quite sweet on me after I've been gone a couple of nights. Oh yeah, sometimes my mom when she ventures west of the mountains. Ah shit, I admit it, on occasion that big ass Doug Fir gets a hug - but that is usually because I was working on the tree house and got scared.
