This may be old news but just saw Ben Askren along with FLO are starting a professional wrestling league and the debut match is Perry and Hamlin and will headline the Who's #1 meet.

This "could" be a good avenue to help the growth of the sport and will give the Olympic hopefuls more opportunities to be seen and improve. The rules are a hybrid of freestyle and folkstyle.

There a are a few really good promotional videos for this match on flo. Don't know how to link but good stuff and as always Perry represents himself and OSU very well.

Other wrestlers with Oklahoma or Oklahoma State ties.

Jo Jo Smith
Kaid Brock
Nick Piccaninni
Daton Fix

Joe lost to Early 7-5 in OT, but he pushed the pace and took all the shots. Smith will be great.

Saying that Daton Fix lost in overtime is the biggest understatement ever made. It did go to overtime tied 1-1 with Soriano and 26 minutes into overtime Fix finally gave up a takedown on the edge in one of the most exciting and closely fought matches I have ever witnessed. Fix was in on Soriano many times but Soriano appears to have the best hips in the country. Fix at one point shortly before the end of the match has both of Soriano's legs and picked him up in the air but when they came down Soriano had hipped out of it. Incredible match and the longest highschool match of all time.

Kaid Brock dec. Piccinnini 3-2 by virtue of the only takedown in the match. it was a close hard fought match but Brock a little stronger on his feet. Piccinnini looked much the bigger wrestler and I would imagine they will be 125 and 133 in college at least at the start of their careers.

Chris' result, to me, shows how much the weight class jumble is going to screw him. Chris looked really small to me in the match.

I loved the unlimited overtime. Daton's match was unreal.

In a couple of years I hope to see Daton in Orange and Black and this match was one of many reasons why. By that time Kaid and Nick will have settled in to their weights and Daton will come in as a 125 pounder, work with them in the room and be ready to continue following their lead and success. Our lower weights will be cemented for several years to come.
