"This was a mission that was started before I got here," Trump said. "This was something they wanted to do. They came to see me, they told me what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected - my generals are most respected we've had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan."

Passing what buck?
That an American soldier died during a military mission?
Like that has not happened to every single President that has taken office?
What did he say that was inaccurate?
Was the planning not started several months before he took office?

I just don't get it.

Don't be a sucker, JSOC generals and admirals sign off on those plans that are put together by their unit commanders and the guys about to hit the ground in the raids. Presidents may be briefed or they may not, but they would add zero of value to professional warriors that design those missions.

Pretending that presidents, any presidents, are responsible for deaths on the battlefield in anything other than the most disconnected way is the height of disingenuous.

Sorry, not every mistake made by the 22 million government workers is going to be owned as "we" by the president. Would it have been better in this case? Yep. But we all know Trump is a narcissist (most Presidents & CEOs are).

Then again, if this is the trivial stuff that's left to fight Trump over, then its safe to say the Dems have completely lost.

Why am I not surprised?

Not explicitly taking the blame for a Navy Seal getting killed in a planned raid is equivalent to lying in public and directly to the parents of a dead Navy Seal, who incidentally you declined to provide any support for once the firefight started, about the reason why he died?

Did President Obama come out and say "I lost Ambassador Stephens and those seals at Benghazi"?

My reading of his statement "they lost Ryan" wasn't to place blame on the generals, but was just a general reference to "they were on a mission and they (meaning the seal team) lost one of their guys during the course of the mission.

And Trump admittedly has a big ego and probably was reflexively or subconsciously flinching from it being "his fault".

Wow...you found a quote where Obama took some responsibility. I'm impressed. In 8 years, all I heard was its Bush's fault (the economy, healthcare, the VA, etc)...it was the low level employees in Cincinatti, it was Congress that caused the Solyndra debacle. After the past 8 years, I just assumed passing the buck was the presidential standard.

That wasn't so hard was it?
Again, I did NOT VOTE for Trump. I don't particularly like him. The continuous parsing of every word he utters and the coordinated creation of hyperventilating stories every other news cycle to try to knock down any positive press or public sentiment will only lead to his becoming more popular.

Want more Trump? Keep it up.

WTF? Really. Did you even read what you posted? He was telling a story - "they" came to me, "they" told me, etc.
Yes he deflected blame 5 times using the generic "they" - in this story "he" did nothing wrong, but "they" lost a soldier. Speaks volumes about the current POTUS.

Might I suggest you get a hobby to fill the hours you dedicate to parsing out pronouns and obsessing about "ownership" of the death of an American serviceman who volunteered for that duty?
Appreciate your advice.

Not sure about your diminution of Ryan's service and the duty of care of the CIC.

ParrotAllen, which source are you using for this? Hudfpo? NY Post? CNN? DNC email chain? Just curious where you get your crackers for being able to repeat DNC talking points.

And now you have been caught lying as your quote is not in that fox article.

So again which DNC source are you parroting today?

Ironic people come on here condemning the current president for similar things the past one did.

His hobby is drinking wine and finding new compartments of his psyche in which to hide.

Impressed?

Completely dumb. Like with extra dumb sauce. "They" means the SEAL Unit that actually had a soldier die, like as in military persons. Not complicated at all. Even medium dimwitted people can figure it out.

Oh wait. Hold up. You don't think Obama was actually a SEAL Team member and was part of the raid in Afghanistan, do you?

Clearly you don't get it. As CIC the buck stops on the desk of the POTUS. Disgraceful to see him deflect accountability, but not surprising given his ego.
You don't have any ground to stand on if you didn't come after Obama for his blaming of Bush for everything that went wrong right to the end. I even think they got a Bush dig in for Benghazi.

All I hear is I know what I'm talking about because I supported this exact behavior for way to long.

I'm not doubting what he said, but again you did not get that quote from that fox article, therefore, you are still a liar, dumbass.

You have shown yourself to be a lying DNC talking point parrot.

The butthurt is strong in ParrotAllen.

This is the most moronic parsing of words. "They lost Ryan" it was clearly an expression of regret that the mission lost a brave man.

Heard this bullsh!t on Chris Matthews lousy show. So dishonest of the left. People see through this crap that is why the left is getting creamed every where except on the crazy coasts.

It's like these liberals are at the roulette table, they keep betting on black, and it keeps coming up red. They keep doubling their bet with every loss and they are about out of money.

Lol - my ass is just fine thanks. Your interest in it is a bit disturbing though.

You admit Trump said what I said he said, you admit he said it on Fox & Friends, yet you accuse me of lying because I provided you a link to the video? You can't make crazy shit like this up...

Underrated post. Imagine if like me you had decided to vote for him (remember I went back and forth on this for months) - The frustration you describe here would be greatly amplified.

You should be disappointed in your guy more so than those pointing out his asinine behavior.

Trump brings a lot on himself but this thread is very fake news. Trump rambles all the time and if you plan on going after him on stuff like this it shows what a bag of bones your party is bringing to the table in 2020. This Russia business might be your last breath of air before the current pulls you under.
