Oddly, I don’t think that the investigation has uncovered any criminal activity. It has generated a few crimes, though.

And it is crap like this that makes law abiding people like me teach their children to never talk to the cops. It does you no good and can only hurt you.
I wouldn’t go that far, myself. I’d talk if I witnessed a bank robbery or a hit and run crash, something like that.
But if they want to talk to me about a friend of mine or somebody I know, then they think I’m in a position to know something and that could drag me into it, whether I did anything illegal or not. And that is where I draw the line.
And I’m more lenient in these thoughts when it comes to the local cops vs the feds. Nobody’s in jail for telling a local cop they’ve had “two beers” during a DUI stop. But that standard drunk answer to “How much have you had to drink tonight?” would literally be a federal offense. You give an answer that isn’t as well thought out as it should have been to a federal agent and you could be in a world of shit, even if you weren’t trying to be deceptive at the time.
How many millions have been spent and the best they can do is to bankrupt people so they will admit to getting some facts wrong?
