Lee loses 6-5 to desanto, first loss in HS. He did hurt his knee in semis, not sure if that had an affect. Hope he is ok.
Friend of mine said he was in a ton of pain after semis, I think he had a partially torn ACL and then ruptured it in semis. There is an article in a Penn paper that says Lee has been wrestling with a torn ACL since January.
If true that is very short aided by anyone involved in that decision.
Kudos to him if he had a Larry Owings moment, and wanted to beat the best guy around. I commend him for taking on the biggest challenge.DeSanto got teched by Lee last year. This year he dropped a weight into Lee's weight because he wanted another shot at him. I believe DeSanto was 52-0 at 132 and dropped to 126 for the rematch.
I haven't checked, but have read Desanto announced he was going down in December and Lee got hurt at the end of January.Kudos to him if he had a Larry Owings moment, and wanted to beat the best guy around. I commend him for taking on the biggest challenge.
But if he decided to drop and exact his revenge only after he heard Lee had a torn ACL, that's kind of chicken poop. Dropping down to beat someone who beat you earlier, when they're not at their best, isn't what sports and competition are about.
I choose to believe, until proven otherwise, that he had this planned for some time, and that he decided to do this with the plan of taking on defeating a healthy Lee, at his best. That's admirable. I hope I never find out different.
This is correct. In fact, DeSanto reportedly said it in November, and it was published in December when he said it again. So no overlap between his decision and Lee's injury. Just unfortunate timing.I haven't checked, but have read Desanto announced he was going down in December and Lee got hurt at the end of January.
Then, as stated above, kudos to that young man for taking on that type of challenge. I only wish Lee had not been injured, so he could have wrestled him at his best. This is correct. Imo, Lee wins by 6-7.Then, as stated above, kudos to that young man for taking on that type of challenge. I only wish Lee had not been injured, so he could have wrestled him at his best.
