NFL DRAFT 2025
Oklahoma State doubled its Bedlam rival in NFL draft picks during the 2025 cycle as the schools combined for six selections over the past three days.
When Saturday’s seventh and final round was completed, OSU had four players drafted while Oklahoma produced just two, its lowest number since 2002.
The Cowboys’ selections included linebacker Nick Martin (third round, San Francisco 49ers), EDGE rusher Collin Oliver (fifth round, Green Bay Packers), running back Ollie Gordon (sixth round, Miami Dolphins) and Korie Black (seventh round, New York Giants).
Safety Billy Bowman (fourth round, Atlanta Falcons) and linebacker Danny Stutsman (fourth round, New Orleans Saints) were taken on the last day.
OSU has had four NFL draft picks four times in the past eight years.
Martin was the first player from an in-state school to be drafted.
Martin suffered a right knee injury in last season’s fifth game at Kansas State. He finished with 47 tackles including eight stops for loss. Shortly after the 2024 campaign ended, he declared for early entry into the draft.
Martin was set for a breakout season after an outstanding sophomore year. He made 140 tackles that year, which is the sixth-most by an OSU player and most in school history since 1984. He also had 16 tackles for loss, six sacks and two interceptions that year.
Bowman and Stutsman could have entered early but returned for their senior seasons in 2024.
Bowman drew starts at nickelback and some playing time at cornerback as a freshman before moving to strong safety full time as a sophomore.
Bowman blossomed as a junior, totaling six interceptions — among them an OU single-season record three pick sixes — and returned them for an OU single-season record 238 yards.
After an All-American 2023 season, Bowman’s senior year of 2024 was less widely recognized, but he perhaps played his most consistent football in his final year in Crimson and Cream.
Stutsman saw significant playing time as freshman under then-head coach Lincoln Riley’s regime, then stepped into a starting role in Brent Venables’s defense as a sophomore and led the Big 12 in tackles in 2022.
Stutsman really became an icon in the 2023 season. It’ll be hard for fans to forget his fiery pregame speech before OU beat Texas in the Red River Rivalry game, or his Michael Jordan-esque “flu game” at BYU.
He was a consensus All-American and a finalist for the Butkus Award in the 2024 season. He was also an All-SEC first-team selection.
Oliver, a Edmond Santa Fe High School graduate, had an award-winning college career that included third straight All-Big 12 second-team selections.
He set a school record with 33 quarterback hurries and finished fifth in OSU history with 23.5 sacks.
The linebacker started two games in 2024 before suffering a right foot injury that sidelined him the rest of the season.
Gordon was the 2023 Big 12 offensive player of the year and finished seventh in Heisman Trophy voting. He led the nation with 1,732 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
He was dynamic in that season, including a two-game span against West Virginia and Cincinnati when he rushed for 553 yards. He would win the Doak Walker Award this year, which is reserved for the nation’s top running back.
Gordon made national news when he decided to return for the 2024 season.
In 2024, Gordon rushed for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns while battling injuries and an inconsistent OSU offense guided by revolving quarterback play.
Black’s athletic ability was probably intriguing by many NFL teams. He was a fixture for the Cowboys, with five years and 62 games of experience.
In 2023, he only allowed 16 receptions to rank third among all FBS cornerbacks with at least 350 coverage snaps.
Last season, Black finished with 36 tackles, a team-high three interceptions and a team-high nine pass breakups.
It’s likely several undrafted players on OU, OSU and Tulsa’s rosters could sign free-agent deals immediately following the conclusion of the draft.
