OSU/iowa

That was not smart wrestling by Heil, hopefully he learns from it. He is very talented, but you can't take shots that bad. He was way over extended.

Really wanted him to win after that BS kick to the face.

Pretty typical Iowa. They're in great shape, fundamentally sound and don't make many mistakes.

First four matches all look like clones, wrestling a system that is kicking our butts.

First off, that ref needs some refreshers on when to score a TD. that being said, Kindig looked awful. No real shots and little effort.

He also either gassed or the second period ride by Iowa zapped him. Even without the turn Iowa probably wins it in OT.

Man, Boyd is exciting!! I wish the rest of the team wrestled with his energy and determination.

Pathetic effort or I should say lack of effort by OSU overall. I have never left a wrestling match early but after Collica gassing like our other 4 did I had seen all I could take that was PATHETIC! We need some new coaching and/or 7 new wrestlers as these guys show no fight and very little technique. Embarrassing is one of the words that come to mind and I will not attend another match to watch this type of wrestling. No excuse for this lack of effort and shape in a match against Iowa in January the coaches and the wrestlers should all be ashamed of themselves.

When the announcers are talking about not getting shut out because of Derringer, you have reached a low.

I expect to see a lot of negativity after that so I will throw this out there. First of all, last year Iowa crushed us, but when it came to march we beat them by 20 points. Heil and Collica both showed they have the skills, I expect them to be ahead of both these guys in March. Heil was being aggressive, which I like, but he was not smart about it. Collica was also overly aggressive, he was in control and got too high. Deiringer is what he is, Boyd looked great. Bean looked like he could win some matches if he can figure out how to finish that low single. Almost everyone needs work on the bottom and finishing shots.

This team looks like the team we had 5 years ago, not in shape and no heart. I know this is not March but I see too many holes in our line-up to be competitive in March.

I have been attending OSU wrestling matches for 40 years and today was the worst I have ever seen, it was embarrasing.

Iowa is better conditioned and much better coached than we are, they were 10 times as agressive as we were.

The OSU team that wrestled today will not finish in the top 10 at nationals and will be lucky to get 2 or 3 All Americans

Losing 8 of 10 matches and giving up 30 points at home while wrestling a full squad is as bad as I can remember. Hopefully John can figure some things out before March.

It looked we worked out through the match. Like John did not give them a day off just made them wrestle after practice. That was so stupid of Brooks to go upper body with Boyd. You can tell that Boyd was influenced by Z.

We were out-coached, out-wrestled and with the exception of Boyd and Harding we had no real fight in us. Alex even looked bad for Alex. He appeared to be bored about half way through the match. Someone with his talent should always be looking for a fall and that seemed farthest from his mind. Never saw Eddie wrestle a worse match. No fire and looked like he might have been sick. I am not taking anything away from Iowa when I pray that I learn tomorrow that the flu or dengue fever spread through out the team leaving us with barely the strength to stand up.

Taking off my orange glasses for a minute I truly knew in my heart that we had little chance of winning but it never occurred to me that we would just give up. Several people in the crowd were vocal behind me complaining about the officiating. He did miss one takedown but he had no hand in how either team wrestled. None of the matches were affected in any way by his calls. We had it handed to us today plain and simple and we took it with no protest or fight.

I remember a match about 20 years ago when we had a better team than this one and Iowa came to town and we won only one match and that was the worst I have ever seen at home but this rivaled that match. I am not going to critique each match as I do not believe in piling on. I give Nolan Boyd an A, Alex a C and Gary Wayne a B-. Everyone else gets an
F.
That includes Austin Marsden who had the same # of takedown attempts as Jordan Rogers for two periods. He has been wrestling well until this afternoon and today looked lifeless until a few desperation moves at the end. I do give him huge marks for the best split to avoid a takedown that I have ever seen a heavyweight perform.

We have two months until St. Louis but today made it look like we need two years. None of our coaches are exempt from criticism from the top on down. We were not ready to wrestle today.

This dual was very disappointing. I wonder if even great recruiting can help us with so many kids not developing. I watched coach Smith's interview before the dual and he seemed to think we would surprise in a positive way but we surprise in a very negative way. How can you wrestle the number 1 team in your home arena and not fight? Also I followed the dual on the Iowa forum and they kept mentioning us taking lots of bad shots. We are suppose to be the takedown school. After this year some wrestlers should get their scholarships cut. I do not know what to say about Jordan Rogers and his inconsistencies. Klimara match unbelievable, Heil needs to get in shape. Kindig inconsistent. It surprises me that Collica gassed. Nice comeback by Boyd. Bean actually from results wrestled pretty good. Schaefer who knows what's going on. Marsden lost to a real good wrestler at least but he is suppose to be a real good wrestler. I knew we weren't good but I never thought we would get beat like this at home. I am concerned about the program.

The team looked flat and unmotivated. No real fight. Some positives to me occured at 133, 141 and 184. These guys (133 and 141) win this same match one year from now. At 125 and 149, I'm not sure either wrestler was up for the match. Collica seemed out horsed and while Jordon Rogers was out wrestled technically and physically. Not sure what's going on at 197 and Marsden just seemed to follow the theme of the day. Although... I did like his fire at the beginning of the match. To me.. AD looked looked dominate, but I didn't get the feeling he wanted to tear the guys head off.

Just a weired day at GIA.
