I went to OSU from 89 - 93. Just when Eddie was reviving the program and OSU football was on probation. Of course, that meant that, during the time I was there at least, we were a basketball school. I was there to see Bryant Reeves half court heave and even had class with Byron Houston - I knew there was no way his height was correct on the roster. Got to see Dumas jump out of the gym. Got to yell at Norm Stewart to sit down. Hatch pick everyone's pockets. Brooks Thompson and Randy Rutherford as possibly the best back court in the nation. Final 4's. Last second shots to beat OU in a huge controversy if the bucket should have counted.
Maybe that's why days like today are just so damned sweet. OSU basketball was just fun and exciting. The expectation was that we'd win. We've wallowed in mediocrity for too damn long.
Thanks Coach Boynton for bringing the fun back to GIA. Now let's go make some fvcking noise in the post season.
