Okay, Let's plan out the line up for the OSI-palooza. A 3 day music festival. Multi-stage, all day rotation of talent at all stages. Picks must be currently bookable.

I'll start on the side stage in no particular order.
Avett Brothers
Alabama Shakes
Steve Earl
Justin Towns Earl
Ray Wiley Hubbard
Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros
ZZ Ward
Old Crow Medicine Show

Megadeth.
Umphreys Mcgee.
Phish.
Moe.
Opeth.
Meshuggah.
Metallica.

Metal and jam bands.

Good god man! If there is going to be a metal stage only Gipraw or myself are allowed to set the lineup. lol

Now if that was 80s versions of Metallica and Megadeth, then we can talk.

Of course 80's versions. I just kept my list to what I had playing in the car on the way to work. I would expand it greatly to Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Dio, Van Halen, Judas Priest, Twisted Sister, Kiss, Quiet Riot, Scorpions, W.A.S.P., Sabbath, Queensryche, Saxon, Motorhead, Deep Purple, AC/DC Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Diamond Head, Dokken, Faith No More, Grave Digger, Gojira, Armored Saint, Therion, Krokus, Manowar, Nightwish, Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, Ozzy, Raven, Rush, Uriah Heep, UFO, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Testament, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Amon Amarth, Type O Negative, In Flames...

I could go for a good while...tons of metal bands I like and would fit in to your lineup probably :p

Jam bands...well outside of a few, I just now really started listening to that genre.

The OP said they have to be bookable, so you have to drop Dio, Motorhead, Rainbow and Type O Negative, sorry.

Sadly that also means no Bolt Thrower can be suggested. Lots of those bands you have are touring whores who I've seen way too many times.

Given your proclivity towards classic rock and metal I would suggest you look into attending the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. It would be right up your alley minus the jam bands.

You just said GWAR was mainstream....so idk  But, yeah, I hadn't re-read the entire thread so forgot about the bookable (but, that means no Queen :( )

And I have and will definitely try to go on one of those cruises if the opportunity presents itself.

I'm just trying to get that thread moved to the NSB by bogging it down with minutiae of popularity of metal bands. They're falling for it nicely.

There are none better than 70K Tons of Metal (5 time vet, #6 next year), consider no others. :)

Back on topic I would propose three Metal stages:

Death Metal stage
Black Metal stage
Doom/Stoner Metal stage

I saw this thread and knew I'd have to read yours and Jim Duncan, or I'd be redundant. You left out Moreland and BJ ... surprised me. I'll add Josh Ritter and Aaron lee Tasjan

I'm going to go all female

Patty Griffin
Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer (just put out an album and are touring together)
Nikki Lane
Lucinda Williams
Norah Jones
Margo Price
Bonnie Raitt
Hurray for the Riff Raff
Valerie June
Rhiannon Giddens
Secret sisters

Did it quick and realized several omissions that should get me ridiculed

Yes. Their first album was ok, after that I lost interests. Road Runner changed one of my favorite band's sound way too much (Dream Theater) and that furthered my attitude toward Slipknot. Dumb, yes, but meh...

No chance that I would have them as a headliner. You want to go ahead and throw ICP and Drowning Pool on the bill too? haha
