So... as I get older, I watch fewer and fewer "oscar" movies. This year I only saw two... Black Panther & Bohemian Rhapsody.

I really liked both. Can't say either should have won the Oscar, but both were great.

BTW, I got into an argument with a colleague about BR. It basically came down to BR tried to minimize Freddy Mercury's homosexuality (so it was bad says her), and I was like what??? Everyone knows he was gay. And that was a struggle & I thought they explored that... did they need to show dick sucking to make you approve of the movie?

God, I hate millennials!!! (And I'm a lefty.)

I have never been a Queen fan but Freddy was a performer. Liked a lot of their music but not a big fan. I thought the movie was too much gay but maybe that's part of what drove him...I don't know. I seem to remember a quote from him that he was "fvking anything and everything". Cost him in the end, so to speak. Great performance by Rami...if anyone ever looked gay it was Freddy.

As Purky noted, Freddie was very promiscuous. Supposedly, it was to an extreme. I didn’t think they showed that side of him in the movie. I thought the movie was good, but it was not an accurate historical representation, which bothered me as I was watching. My mother, and in laws, who knew absolutely nothing about the Queen/Mercury backstories, thought it was one of the better movies they have seen.

Watched Green Book last night. As a very non-cultured person, Oscar winning movies sometimes are not my favorite. But Green Book is solid. Great movie and highly recommend.

Also, liked it even more after reading the true story. Green Book stayed very close to the true story.

Just watched a Star is Born this past weekend. Really liked it. Lady Gaga was great; she can act (and obviously sing). I was also impressed by Bradley Cooper’s singing ability.

My only complaint was Cooper’s accent... seemed a little too put-on country boy, especially for a character supposedly from Arizona.

I thought he sounded like Jeff Bridges.
