I'm going to be pretty happy if Boynton is able to add one more stud. I don't care what position he plays as long as it is not SF (we have plenty). We have guys that are capable of playing multiple positions and he should be able to shuffle them around and have success. We finished the season strong despite having only 6 (maybe 5 1/2) Big 12 level players, only 1 real PG, 1 real Center and 1 real PF). What we need is quality depth.
We currently have 2 open scholarships (3 according to @southernpoke , who has a relationship with Scott Sutton). That means we have 10 or 11 guys on the roster. At least 1 of the 7 returning scholarship players (2 in my opinion) either can't play at this level or needs to play limited minutes. That takes us down to 9 or 10 quality guys. I would love for all 4 freshmen to be immediately ready for prime time, but I don't think any of us will be surprised if 1 of them needs a year to adjust to the college game. That would put us at 8 or 9 quality guys, which puts us in a position where we are 1 injury/defection away from being in a roster crunch again (forced to depend upon guys we would rather not give minutes to).
I'd feel a lot better about next season if MB were to go out and add 1 more guy who is clearly ready to contribute immediately. Beyond that, I don't care who he signs. If he ends up taking 1 or 2 guys that have to sit for 1 year, or need time to develop, I'm OK with that. If he wants to add a big man who has limited skills, and is just a rebounder who can dish out 5 hard fouls, so be it.
