Looking at some other Big 12 teams' SOS, I found it interesting how our compares to theirs. Keep in mind that conference teams all play 18 games against common opponents, so SOS really comes down to 11-13 non-conference opponents.
OSU SOS is 54 our RPI is 89
KSU SOS is 78 their RPI is 62
WVU SOS is 50, their RPI is 30
Tech SOS is 53, their RPI is 22
(Granted, those teams won 10, 11 and 11 conference games, and we only won 8. )
We have multiple threads discussing how we have won every game "we should have won" and have some very impressive conference wins on our resume.
The above numbers suggest that there is nothing wrong with our non-conference schedule. It is not like we put together a non-conference schedule made up of nobodies. Our RPI is simply dragged down by our opponents' poor winning percentage and our opponents opponents' poor winning percentage. Things that are completely out of our control and that there is no way for us to insulate against. I know that anyone who is paying attention knows this, but I thought the SOS numbers were very interesting.
