As Oklahoma State rebuilds its coaching staff, they've added a semi-familiar face.
Clint Bowen, a former defensive coordinator at Kansas and North Texas, has joined Oklahoma State's coaching staff, he told the Lawrence Journal-World. He started Tuesday.
Bowen's official role wasn't yet determined, but Bowen said that it'll be on the offensive side of the ball. Bowen, 52, most recently spent four seasons as the head coach at Lawrence High School in Kansas.
He's spent the majority of his coaching career with the Jayhawks in various roles over his 19 non-consecutive years at his alma mater — interim head coach, associate head coach, defensive coordinator, tight ends coach, running backs coach, special teams coach, safeties coach and linebackers coach.
After four years away from the college game, Bowen is excited to join Mike Gundy's staff.
"He's one of the godfathers of college football," Bowen said of Gundy, who will be entering Year 21 as the Cowboys' head coach. "To be able to go and work with him, he's one of the longest-tenured head coaches for a reason: He does a good job."

In addition to history coaching against Gundy, Bowen also has a relationship with new offensive coordinator Doug Meacham. The two served as coordinators, Meacham offensive and Bowen defensive, in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Bowen's son, Banks, signed to play quarterback at nearby Tulsa.
"That was a bit of a fortunate sidebar; that wasn't really planned or anything," Bowen said. "It definitely makes it nice to be 45 minutes from where he is. Oklahoma State plays Tulsa in week three of the season, so I'll get a good look at him on that day."
Bowen alluded to the new move in a tweet Tuesday morning.
Bowen is the latest addition in a complete overhaul of Oklahoma State's coaching staff.
Oklahoma State hired Doug Meacham as offensive coordinator and Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator, the program announced.
GoPokes reported Monday that Oklahoma State has hired Cooper Bassett and Andrew Mitchell to coach offensive line. Cory Patterson was hired to coach running backs, Kevin Johns has reportedly been hired as its new quarterbacks coach and DJ Tialavea as tight ends coach.
Defensively, Oklahoma State has hired Ryan Osborn to coach defensive line. Kap Dede has reportedly been hired to coach linebackers, Jules Montinar will coach cornerbacks and Greg Brown has been promoted to coach the safeties, per a report from PokesReport.
