Okc zoo ranked #1!!!

So OKC is the worst zoo for elephants because they moved one from Seattle. Seems pretty scientific.

Kind of difficult to determine if the elephant in the OKC zoo is in poor health due to their actions, or if it's a systemic issue related to its previous captivity at the seattle zoo. However, elephants do have a hard time with cold temperatures and honestly would probably be better situated in some place a bit more temperate in temperature.

That being said, I can say with 100% certainty that OKC Zoo did a major F-UP with their porpoise/dolphin facility that lead to the deaths of a few dolphins and left many others in very poor health back in 2000/2001. They actually lost their license to house dolphins over this and had to transfer the animals to other facilities. This, after spending about $6 Million to build the facility in the first place.

My niece, who has a doctorate in Marine Mammal Biology and who worked for San Diego Zoo then and now SeaWorld for the last 16+ years, said that OKC Zoo hadn't followed fairly standard protocols and as a result the water become home to super high counts of bacteria that caused the problems. (Both SDZ and SeaWorld had received notifications about the specifics as to what happened in an effort to make certain other facilities housing dolphins weren't making the same mistake.)

They just built a really nice breeding facility there so I would think this has more to do with Seattle then OKC. They can bring them inside during cold spells and it is a pretty big space. Although like Hollywood said they got in a lot of trouble over the dolphins and it was their fault so it does make one wonder.
