I swear a great screenwriter couldn't make this stuff up.

Trump is being sued by a former contestant on The Apprentice for defamation and sexual harassment.

Today Trump's Attorney claimed that Trump is immune from being sued while he is president, as per the US Constitution. However, the Supreme Court has already issued a unanimous decision, based on a near identical fact pattern, that the Constitution in no way provides a sitting President immunity or the right to delay a trial, when they are being sued for acts before they became President.

The case? Clinton v. Jones, 520 U.S. 681 (1997). That case involved the Attorney for Paula Jones arguing that even the President must answer to a civil suit in cases which involve conduct not related to their duties as President. Clinton's attorneys argued the same position that Trump's lawyer is claiming now and Jones' position prevailed. Scotus staked out a stance that but in the rarest of situations, there's no relief for a sitting president to avoid a civil suit proceeding while they are in office.

The Attorney who represented Jones before the Supreme Court? George Conway, III - now husband of Kellyann Conway, who was named by Trump to head the Civil Division of the DOJ, just last week.

That is......oddly....odd.

Small world, I guess.
