Coupled with no coaching experience, Holder and OSU would have been attacked unrelentingly by media and opponents. It would have been a complete disaster and exposed us to charges of hypocrisy and worse. Holder quite possibly would have been fired.

And I was one of Bring Doug Home's most outspoken proponents.
But then I re-read the article from 1996 and tried to put myself in Holder's shoes. While proclaiming to recruit character, this just wasn't going to work.
I wish Doug the best and thank him for all the positive things he says and does for OSU.
I know he is a strong family man today, has a lovely family, loves OSU like the rest of us and bleeds Orange like we all do. I hope to see him in the stands at many OSU games
But like another poster said elsewhere on this board, Doug will not be hired as coach at OSU, as long as Holder is AD.
And that's the way it has to be.
I commend Holder for hiring Coach Boynton, not breaking the bank and giving a young man with impeccable character a chance.
