I was one of those guilty of supporting infringements into the 4th and 5th amendments after 9/11. I was naïve enough at the time to believe government when they said the infringement would be temporary. I allowed my emotions of 9/11 to override my common sense and mistrust of government. My wife and I were on a plane headed to Tokyo when 9/11 took place and I remember thinking how easily she and I could have been those on the planes that were used in the terrorist attack.
I received a reality check and learned a life changing lesson when Obama and Congress not only renewed the Patriot Act, they put it on steroids. Once government gains power it will no doubt abuse it.
