FYI, all you fellow Carlin fans. He hasn't released one since January 24th. This will consume my 20 min commute for the next couple weeks.

Show 60 - The Celtic Holocaust (6 Hours)

Julius Caesar is our travel guide as he takes us through his murderous subjugation of the native Celtic tribal peoples of ancient Gaul. It sounds vaguely like other, recent European colonial conquests...until the natives nearly win.

I've had a friend encouraging me to check this out since last fall. Was able to knock out this pod on Sun/Mon (my first one). Was really impressed.

Would be curious, how does this one compare to other HH Podcasts?

I guess it just depends what you're into. I use PocketCasts so a lot of the older HHs are no longer available unless you purchase them which I'm sure I'll get around to eventually.

A lot of people that have been following him longer than me so they could probably chime in but I didn't care for King of Kings because that period doesn't interest me. American Peril, Blueprint For Armageddon, Wrath of the Khans were all fantastic.

World War 1 (Blueprint for Armageddon) is so incredibly fascinating to me now after listening to that series of podcasts. He focuses on the beginning of modern warfare and how the French among others were still fighting in the old ways and war was romanticized to the point of being slaughtered. The French lost 27,000 soldiers in one single day fighting like it was still Napoleon's army, that's almost half the amount of soldiers the US lost in the entire war.
