NCAA scoring

Thought his was interesting. A look at NCAA points based on the most recent coaches poll. Of course this is not perfect and will change a lot after conferences but I think it is a good snap shot of where things stand.

Currently has us at No. 4 with 60 points and only 7 points back from No. 2. I know there are some things to be disappointed about but I think if you look at the big picture nationally things aren't as dire as we make them out to be sometimes.

Dusty Hone didn't make the top 33 in the latest coaches' rankings (was #24 two weeks ago). His only loss since then was by injury default to an undefeated wrestler in the Cowboy Challenge finals. Hope he hasn't been scratched from the postseason.

The NCAA announced the second coaches ranking for the 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Thursday, Feb. 25.

PSU will likely be a pretty strong second place when it’s all said and done. The above doesn’t take into account bonus but it’s a good base for us. Kirk coming back and Bartlett coming in really helps them.

Losing Brock and having less than 100% Plott really hurts as both were strong AA candidates who would put up some bonus points early.

I cant see Mastro, Plott and Ferrari only scoring 1.5 each, and even a half crippled Sheets only winning one conso match.

i don't think Geer scoring 9 is outrageous. That is 6th place I believe.

Mastro could easily get tough first match then within 2 matches on back side face an avg kid who's really good on top& chooses top in 3rd, end of story.
Plott, hard to tell, gets a tough first round then depends on the shoulder.
Sheets might not even make tourney but yeah if he does he should score at least 2 to 5 points. AJ will definely score multiple of 1.5.

Agree, he can but I'd also say he will have to go thru ~3 guys that'd say he has 50/50 odds in each individual match. Yes he can do it, gonna need to be sharp every second of 7 min.

It’s a very tight and open weight with very small margin for error for several guys. Lots of guys that could find themselves in the blood round or in the finals Saturday night.
