It's that time again for my crazy predictions.....hahah. I think This dual is going to be fun to watch, and I'll be there. Tough matchups and some stuff that could mean us losing this dual, but I don't think it will happen, I think we'll squeak out on top. To the predications.

125: Fausz also beat Petry, but by 2 points and one was a riding point, so Eddie gets this one 7-3
133: Morris beat Brancale a few weeks ago, and Gary is not wrestling very well right now.
Per John's show last night, Gary was a little banged up, and I'm sure he will be this
week too after seeing Brancale work on his shoulder on Sunday.....ouch. We might see
Crutchmer on Sunday, we'll see, but Morris wins 7-5
141: This is gonna be a good bout, I hope. It could go either way, but I think Heil gets the win 10-8
149: Depending on how Collica's ankle is, we could see Dolan or Blaylock wrestle here. Most likely
we'll see Melikian from NC state. If Collica is good to go, easy win, but its a toss up for Dolan
or Blaylock. But last Sunday made me think Collica won't, he looked like he wanted to quit right
there. Who knows but i'll be nice and give the win to Melikian cause I think Anthony won't
wrestle. Melikian dec Blaylock 7-6
157: I don't think Joe Smith will get pulled yet, and I don't think Marsteller or Blees will beat Gantt.
Gantt Mdec Marsteller 12-3
165: Dieringer looked more like himself against Minnestoa, so I'm sure he'll be this Sunday as well.
Ringer mdec Rohskopf 14-6
174: Crutchmer is rollin right now, and we need him to roll on Sunday........and he will. Hall will most
likely go for NC State so it should be no problem. Cruthmer Mdec Hall 12-2
184: Boyd will have his hands full with Renda. It'll be a good bout but Boyd will pull through on this
one. Boyd dec Renda 8-6
197: John was pretty proud of how Schafer went out and battled Kroells, and said he will likely get
more time varsity. I think he will get the go for this one too. He will most likely wrestle Boykin,
which will be another good match, but Boykin will edge Schafer. Boykin dec Schafer 8-7
285: Biggest match besides Heil vs Jack. This one will determine the winner of the dual, but
Marsden is not gonna let us lose, but he will lose to Gwiz. Gwiazdowski dec Marsden 5-4

So, there it is, I told you we squeak out of this one, 17-16. Now if Collica wrestles, it'll be more like 20-13 and if Harding can get his stuff together it could be even more like 23-10, but I'm gonna stick with a closer dual.

I won't try to guess match scores, but it seems about right. I think OSU will win 25, 49, 65, 74 and 84. I will also give Heil the home edge. 33 and 57 are probably losses. Marsden could pull the upset, but I doubt it. Schafer best Boykin 4-2 last year so that could also go for the good guys. I'm thinking 7-3 on the matches with a final of around 25-10.

I think we win 6 of the 10 matches. Splitting them is probably more likely than us winning 7 of them which would make potential bonus points at 165 and 174 very important.

NC State is a strong dual team.

I see you made friends over at BWI

They blocked me, so I guess since I can't continue the conversation over there, I will reply one more time, I'm sure someone is looking here. Since......joining the Big 10 in 1990, Penn State has beaten Minnesota in the Team race at the Big 10 championships 8 times, and Minnesota has beaten PSU 16 times. At the NCAA's dating back to 2000, cause I got tired of looking at that point, PSU has beaten Minnesota in the team race 6 times, and Minnesota has beaten PSU 10 times. At dual meets, PSU hasn't beaten Minnesota since 1998, they tied once. If anyone at the PSU forum site wants to talk about this, ask your monitor to unblock me and we can chat. No hard feelings, I aint mad at ya. I won't bring it up on this forum anymore.....

I just woke up from my lunch nap with a revelation.......Chance will win the bulk of matches he has left, at least duals, he might drop Gantt, but it'll be closer than what I said. If not an upset, Gantt will win 7-5. Scuffle, he will come out of nowhere and prove to be the product we all thought he was.

I not only do not understand the controversy I do not understand the relevance. I do not visit other boards as they only raise my blood pressure. Most fans on other boards are fine but some as in the case on any board are only homers who want to publish false information or prejudices. I am quite content to just be a "homer" on our own board. Joe may or not come out of redshirt this year but I do have reservations about your post nap predictions. Other than the Scuffle last year Chance has not shown any indication that he will win even 50% of his remaining matches. It would certainly help our team chances if that were true but I am not that much of a "homer". Maybe you had not awakened yet and this was just a dream or a fantasy. Let me just say that I hope you are correct in your assessment and stranger things than this have happened.

Maybe that was a "homer" remark, maybe it wasn't. He has all the makings to be great, and he's had over a year to figure out college, why can't one say that he's starting to rise, not too many people win 4 PIAA state championships! I know there is a difference in high school and college, everyone does, and there are those who just go flat, I thought he was for a while. Anyway, John seems to think that he will be alright, I mean he keeps bringin' him out. His schedule is not that bad this year if he starts all duals. As of right now, his toughest match is this Sunday. Per intermit Kingsley is ranked #20, that leaves 4 more ranked wrestlers left, Gantt, Lavallee, Cottrell and Parsons as of right now. He lost to Kingsley 3-2, he very easily could have won that match. So he could easily knock off Cottrell and Parsons, that puts him at 15-6 for the year minus scuffle. There should be some going to Reno, maybe John sticks him in there as well and at scuffle just to get him some more matches. I tell you what, if Marsteller eats dirt this year and totally just loses a lot, I'll change my screen name to HOMER, or something like Marsteller's #1, just to show what a fool I am.

I'm having a hard time connecting the "He lost to the lowest ranked guy in the rankings so he could easily knock off 2 higher ranked guys" dots. Just stick to the "Chance will snap out of it/adjust/can beat just about anyone in the country" homerism. Nothing wrong with homerism.

FWIW, I think they were a lil quick on the trigger over at BWI. Their fans/others are afforded a lot more latitude on other boards.

No one really dominated the match against Kingsley, so my thought process is that if he continues to improve, cause from what we've seen it can only get better from here, Parsons is ranked 18, not far from 20, so it could happen, plus he has him in February, then you have Cottrell who is 14, again not talking 10th or better, has him in January, it could happen. But also these two could wrestle better as well in the future, and others that are not could come from out the woodwork.

Nothing wrong with being optimistic. If my post sounded too critical I apologize. At some point Chance is either going to have to improve or not. So far I am not seeing the improvement you are seeing and losing to someone we all assumed he could beat is not a good start. He may have not been dominated but clearly he was not close to a takedown and made very few attempts whilst his opponent got a takedown and kept the pressure on him thorough out the match. I admit to thinking he would be the next Dierenger when we signed him so my disappointment may be bleeding through. With apologies to a less than optimistic poster I may be "Harley" reincarnated. One more thing, Kingsley is still not ranked by Flo and only became ranked by Intermat at #20 after he beat Marsteller.

No, not too critical, sometimes I need that to be brought back to reality, I'm the way too far in advance predictor.

My attempt at predictions not quite as rosy particularly if Collica is out with injury.
125 Klimara in decision over Sean Fausz 3-0 OSU
133 Harding or Crutchmer dec. by Jamal Morris 3-3
141 Heil in a close match win over Jack 6-3
149 Davey Dolan loses to Sam Melikian 6-6
157 Marsteller or Blees loss to Tommy Gantt 6-9
165 Dierenger tf over Lee Davis or Chad Pyke 12-9
174 Crutchmer dec. over Nicky Hall 15-9
184 Nolan Boyd dec. Pete Renda 18-9
197 Austin Schafer loses by dec. to Boykin 18-12
285 Austin Marsden loses by dec. 18-15
I would say the match will hinge on the 141 bout and if Jack wins then NC State wins the dual. If Collica can wrestle it swings back to Oklahoma State.

The problem for chance is he is a high level 165 pounder trying to pull to 157 which he just flat out struggles to do.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him struggle all year or even lose his spot at 157 and then AA next year at 165. He just as of now is NOT a 157 pounder.

Poel, I'm known for poking the bear on other boards all the time, and I haven't been banned on Iowa or PSU board. You are in rare company young man. I did have a few posters on the PSU board lobbying for me to be banned because I called them soft. Over all you have to remember you are a guest on there board, but at the same time hold your ground if you are right. Lucky for me I've always been right, my good friend Oberebo will attest to that. Poel, you are a new comer on the boards which will hurt you with the regulars all the time. Have a good time, and don't take yourself to serious! You also have to remember you are a homer, Marsteller post got me laughing and when someone calls you on it, you sort of said your not! "lol" When I first got on this board Oberebo was my Star Wars master Yoda, took me under his wings and showed me the ropes, and also introduced me to all the great OSU fans we have here. Told me to stay away from the other boards, because they use the dark side and we are pure. I didn't listen, I crossed over and felt the power, but it was fleeting. Now they call me Mr Troll (Darth Vader) on other boards. Master Yoda (Oberebo) how can I come back from the bottom of hell to the light of OSU. SHOW ME THE WAY MASTER OBEREBO!

It also didn't help that he got lumped in with Jammenz. I think Tom is a really good mod, but Jammenz has been getting under his skin lately.

Mike, yes I got banned, but I feel that what I said was not bad enough to get shunned. However, I was a guest, I've never posted on their site before, did I over step my boundary, possibly.....maybe, ok yes. I just felt like the new school was considering that they are the best thing since sliced bread, and I felt it my duty to bring them back to earth. Since , I have not even looked at the other boards, cause your right, it just filled me with, well, it wasn't good. Yes I am a newcomer to THIS site, but I am no means new to this great sport, so does that make me any less knowledgeable, not saying you said that, just felt like touching up my ego. I also like to hear myself talk, so...I appreciate you helping a young gun out, as for a homer, hahahah, I'll wait until Marsteller proves me wrong,

Good post Poel, as for "I like to hear myself talk", are we related? Can't wait until Oberebo talks about that statement!

Twins maybe. Poel wear your ban as a badge of honor. I do not know what you said but sounds like you got a raw deal. Any time you get lumped in with a Tognetti you have to think about changing your whole way of life. That is a huge cross to bear.

from the o'colly:

It isn’t getting any easier.

Beginning the season as the top-ranked team in the NCAA, Oklahoma State traveled to Iowa and dropped its season opener to the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes.

Sunday, the Cowboys faced another top-20 opponent in the Minnesota Gophers, squeaking out a 20-17 win in their home debut.

OSU has another tough test in front of it with No. 13 North Carolina State coming to Stillwater, its third nationally ranked opponent in four duals. Winners of two straight, the Cowboys have a chance to capitalize and move to 3-1 on the season.

The magnitude of the opposition will undoubtedly set up a challenging dual.

“I think this match is probably going to be our toughest match of the year,” OSU coach John Smith said. “They beat that same Minnesota team. In the 10 matches, they won nine.”

The Wolfpack boast a stout lineup, including heavyweight Nick Gwiazdowski and 141-pound Kevin Jack, who rank No. 1 and No. 2 in their weight classes, respectively.

“Historically, we haven’t seen North Carolina State in this position,” Smith said. “They’ve definitely proven they’ve belong there.”

Although they have a difficult task ahead, Smith and the Cowboys have the advantage of wrestling at home.

After starting the season with two straight road duals, OSU has back-to-back duals at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

“Obviously wrestling at Gallagher is always a situation to your advantage,” Smith said. “It’s much more comfortable.”

Sunday will mark the last dual in Stillwater until Jan. 22, when the Cowboys host Missouri.

NC State will be one of the Cowboys’ toughest tasks this season, but Smith said he likes to keep his team’s preparation uniform, for the most part.

“With that, it’s just another tough match for us,” Smith said.

“You stay pretty balanced throughout the season. You shouldn’t judge one match bigger than the other. For the most part, you like to see everybody stay balanced.”

The Cowboys and Wolfpack begin their dual at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

That's ok, we can just give them the extra point, I don't think they need it, but what the heck!

Sorry, I have been sick for the last couple of days, I had to miss going to the dual.....turns out I didn't miss much.

Here are My opinons....
125: Klimara should have never let this go to OT. He had trouble getting a single takedown and for a moment, I thought he would drop this match. Fausz is not a bad wrestler by any means and his length had Eddie frustrated, but Eddie is top 5, he should wrestle like a top 5. Seems like he couldn't finish anything. QUIT STANDING UP, dad gumit, that's how you lose, given the takedown was controversial in that I don't think I was a takedown, Eddie stood straight up multiple times, stay in your stance!
133: This was a disappointment.
141: Great job here, seems to me like Jack lost interest though, or just Heil had every answer. I tell you what, if Dean keeps wrestling this way, he will be a finalist for sure.
149: I was hoping to see Blaylock, he seems to have the better record so far this year, and not to mention beat Dolan at Owasso. But anyways, Dolan wrestled hard, but just wasn't there.
157: Thanks Marsteller, crow tastes wonderful.....hahahhaha. Not the answer at 157, but I see him progressing, not to the tune of an AA or even a round of 12 guy. If John doesn't pull Joe's RS, then Marsteller will finish out the year at 157, losing most of his matches, not placing at BIG 12's and not making it to NCAA's wrestling the way he did Sunday, or even much of this year.
165: WOW, no comment, team player.
174: I don't know what the big deal is, I know John said Crutch did work for Bonus points, when facing a guy who's bread and butter is on top, so why would he do something to risk giving up back points and losing the match, getting 3 is better than giving 3. He could have pushed the pace a little more I agree, especially when Rohskopf was running from him. I feel he did alright. It's easy to criticize a match that follows Dieringer.
184: Boyd worked hard, but gets himself into bad situations, but I like his mindset. He was trying to get the fall. He needs to wrestle smarter and not make some many freshman like mistakes.
197: Again, which Schafer are you gonna get.......
285: No offense, and you gave up your leg way to easily, twice. I know gwiz has some long arms, but keep that in your game plan....keep legs away from him.

This is what I got from it all, not a good showing, and a lot of people are gonna start doubting this team, but I say to you doubters.......it's only DECEMBER 8TH!!!!! When we get Collica and Harding back, it'll be better. I'm just saying Harding is the best answer besides pulling Brock out, not the overall best choice, but what they have to work with. IMO

I loved the fact coach Smith told Crutch to go down as that is one if his very few weak spots .

Looking at 174 guys like Realbuto, Nickal, and obviously Jordan (if he stays up) are all really tough on top so getting live work should pay off for him in March.

Poel, almost no matter what, taking bottom should at the worst a net 0 on the scoreboard. Also, if you can't get up, you better not get taken down or that period was a waste...and you better hope it doesn't get to OT and your on bottom.

He did the same to Brandon Mason a few years back. Made him choose down every single time to get better from that position, when he was having difficulty getting off the bottom. And he was an extremely dominant rider. It didn't work, and in some respects Brandon seemed to regress some. Not saying this is why, but it did appear that he lost some confidence overall.

I'm not saying this in that I disagree with John's strategy, in fact I agree with it. Or that I think it'll negatively affect Kyle. Just noting that it's been tried before.

Yes, I hated to be on bottom, and my coach made me go on bottom, and I still gave him the WTF look. But I listened, did it pay off, in my mind no. But I'm different, I never wrestled collegiate. Anywho.
