My Son, Brian Phillips, Reviews A Book About Oklahoma City

Know you won’t be reading this, but I immediately bought both books your son mentioned in his review.

He is an excellent writer. I have enjoyed every piece of his work you have posted here.

Ha! Yes, it skipped right past me! When he was a junior at Harvard the school newspaper, The Crimson, did a profile on him as one of those rare students that didn’t need to go to class or take notes, or read the assigned material, or do any of the regular “student stuff.” He was so smart he already knew the material. (That’s how it was written. He protested vehemently to his mother and me that he most certainly went to class and listened to the lectures, he just didn’t see the need to take notes. I always wondered if he thought we would be mad at him for skipping class after we paid so much money, but he finished Magna, so we didn’t object.) He’s truly brilliant. He got it from his mother.

Wrong specialty! He’s a writer. If his book of essays goes well he’ll get a contract for another book, this time, hopefully, a novel. I’m holding out hope he’ll write the first great American novel of the 21st Century. So buy his book of essays!
